A Cadbury store has been accused of erasing Easter by advertising chocolate eggs as “gesture eggs”.
The brand’s discount store in Springfields Outlet in Spalding, Lincolnshire, is displaying signs offering customers a two-for-£10 deal on “gesture eggs”.
The omission of the word “Easter”, particularly when advertising its popular Easter eggs synonymous with the religious holiday, has provoked anger among the Christian community.
“If it wasn’t for Easter, we wouldn’t have a reason for Easter eggs,” said Tim Dieppe, the head of public policy at Christian Concern. “So I’m wondering why Cadbury wants to erase the connection between Easter and eggs, because if people stop celebrating Easter then they might stop buying Easter eggs.”
He added: “I’m surprised that they are avoiding saying the word ‘Easter’, as that’s the time of year – it’s the Easter holidays, the Easter festival – and I’m surprised they’d want to avoid reference to Easter with things like this.”

“Wouldn’t want to offend people during Ramadan (which is openly celebrated).”
Oh, don’t feel too bad. They can always come out with the easter camel and collect what they left behind.

I guess you were also okay with their signing off on a Halal certifiicate?
You seem to always be siding with the deep state moves.
[Cadbury has disowned this, saying that the stores advertising ‘gesture eggs’ are independent stores acting on their own.]
Well, that’s some relief.
Seeing how this is England(?, unless I read it incorrectly) I remember back in 2001 when Dave Hunt (RIP) noted that already more people were attending mosques in England than Christian churches.
I’m guessing that trend still continues to this day.
Thanks
Unreal, how any HERE could possibly be okay with this.
Easter, Easter eggs and bunnies are all pagan symbols that preceded Jesus' day on the cross. My Bible says Passover and so I'll go with what Gods Word says rather than pagan traditions.
Some, here, are okay with that.
Yeah.
It’s hard to find some not lukewarm these days. For many people I speak to, not much has changed, other than prices and they think the world is just going to keep plodding along.
Granted, I’m a bit of a zealot, LOL. To me, the decline of the USA, especially since 2008, is shocking.
You would never have gotten me to believe there would be an LGBTQ-themed White House and that’s already almost 9 years behind us. (hard to believe)
I don’t know how many in the UK are attending mosques; I don’t live there, and it’s not my job to keep track of, or dictate, how other people choose to worship.
(I don’t worry much about candy eggs, either - I’m not crazy about sweets. I was just conveying what Cadbury has said on record about this issue.)
[I was just conveying what Cadbury has said on record about this issue.]
And that’s okay.
The shifting demographics in England seem to be altering the landscape there; as here in the U.S.A.
It’s best if one’s ‘landscape’ is inner. When that’s the case, nobody can ‘alter’ it.

Right there with you, brother.
I remember thinking, just days after 0bie’s “election” ... how FAST things were already changing.
Heck, that was nothing, compared to what’s happened, since.
But, we’re told this will happen ... at this speed.
I guess we believers are all zealots, now.
We’re in good company.
The tradition of hiding eggs at Easter is believed to have originated from pagan spring festivals that celebrated new life, the spring equinox, and new beginnings. During these festivals, eggs were decorated and given as gifts to symbolise the rebirth of nature after winter.
Well, there’s a whole new crop of young people who have no idea what’s happening.
And anymore, a lot of churches are going “Toy Story” and other ridiculous nonsense that embraces the world.
I can’t affect much, but I give a little try to alert and instruct people on just a few things.
[I guess we believers are all zealots, now.]
Yes.
[We’re in good company.]
Very true. During the Tribulation, I have absolutely no doubt how Tribulation Saints will be vilified, terrorized, marginalized and basically abandoned.
I always think that those who actually believe the Church will go through it, are not really prepared for such. Now I don’t believe it does, but it would certainly be a rough ride if it did.
Just since the crash of 2008 I’ve found how difficult it is to even survive what with all of my close family gone. And people you once thought were your close friends are close to absent.
I’ve heard that too
RE: No Easter or Easter eggs.
The Sola Scriptura* doctrine isn’t followed by all here.
It is by a lot of Protestants and non-denominational Christians.
Catholics believe interpretations and meanings are needed outside of the strict Bible quotations and references. The entire Church is under the Pope and others who give help in understanding what God wants. Catholics remind all that Jesus never said to read the Bible and there was no written Bible during his lifetime.
Most Jewish beliefs add to the Holy Scriptures (”Old Testament” to others) by rabbis and people who devote their lives to prayer and Torah study (such a person is a Talmid Chakham) with hundreds of volumes of Midrash, Mishna and Talmud all representing human attempts to understand God’s intentions in the inspired words. Rashi, Nachmanides, Maimonides. Sforno and others have voluminous Bible commentaries. The term “Mishnah” originally referred to a method of teaching by presenting topics in a systematic order, as contrasted with Midrash, which followed the order of the Bible.
Sola scriptura* (Latin for ‘by scripture alone’) is a Christian theological doctrine held by most Protestant Christian denominations, in particular the Lutheran and Reformed traditions, that posits the Bible as the sole infallible source of authority for Christian faith and practice.
Who will ultimately lose anyways.
Jesus will not be erased, blocked, removed, squashed, hindered, obscured, or minimized.
He will CONQUER.
Guess again.
Read and learn.
