ANALYSIS: Dissecting Russia’s Most Recent Massed Missile and Drone Strike on Ukraine
Kyiv Post ^ | March 29, 2024 | Stefan Korshak

Ukrainian air defenders on Friday morning had fought a tough overnight battle against nearly a hundred missiles and drones launched by Russia at targets across the country, shooting down the bulk of the Kremlin’s strike packages, but by their own reckoning failing to intercept any of Moscow’s ballistic missiles.

According to Ukrainian military announcements, the Russian Federation overnight from Thursday to Friday launched 99 long-range weapons at Ukraine. An estimated 58-60 were propeller-driven, Iranian-exported Shahed drones. Based on open-source air defense reports reviewed by Kyiv Post, Russian strike planners used the Shahed drones to probe and where possible spread thin Ukrainian air defenses.

The backbone of Moscow’s assault was 21 (or 23) X-101/X-555 cruise missiles and a smaller number of high-tech X-59 cruise missiles dropped by Tu-95MC turboprop bombers – the well-known Bear bomber from the Soviet era – flying over the Caspian Sea. The Ukrainians appear to have tracked the aircraft from takeoff deep inside Russia to their launch point, and the missiles’ flight across two-thirds of Ukraine. About half of the missiles appear to have been aimed at Ukrainian power grid infrastructure in the south, and the other half at power grid infrastructure in the east.

Enough of the Muskovite propaganda, here is how it looked from Ukraine's POV. The writer doesn't seem to hide any of the bad news. Seems credible, therefor.

The Russians are launching a lot of missiles at Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. That suggests they are desperate, and their story of trying to reform Ukraine, or protect its Russian speaking occupants was just another lie.

They won't be happy when the Ukrainians start turning off the lights in Russian cities.

What’s to dissect? This is from Kiev and 99% of all missiles and drones were shot down. The one missile that got through hit the old Russian embassy. Nothing else to know, thanks for the update. The counteroffensive starts next week and Z should be in the Kremlin by mid April.

Dramatize the bad news even more to create sympathy for the Ukrainian ancestors of Hitler’s Helpers in World War II.

There must be a G-d when you realize that a Jewish President is sending the ancestors of Nazi fighters and Holocaust auxiliaries in World War II to their deaths on the “Eastern Front” at the hands of the Russians.

I think I was over the target on that one.

The facts of history confirm what I said.

Yes we can talk about the Russian-Soviet wrongdoings associated with Ukraine Stalin’s famine and so on to balance that out but many Ukrainians chose the Nazi German side in WW II.

No hypocrisy. "pumper" is merely descriptive. A little more alliterative than "advocate", or "tout".

The facts of history confirm what I said.

The ancestors of any Ukrainian who fought in WW2 have been dead for 100 years. None of them are fighting for Ukraine today.

Hint: the MSM stopped leading with Ukraine War updates a long time ago.

Hence it is not going well for the Ukranians.

From the article: “Russian ballistic missiles hit targets pretty much at will. The only Western air defense system that shoots them down – the US Patriot system – Washington stopped sending to Kyiv in December.”

A majority of Americans don’t give a flying fig. We’ve got bigger fish to fry.

According to a 2/16/ 2024 survey from the Harris Poll and the Quincy Institute, roughly 70% of Americans want the Biden administration to push Ukraine toward a negotiated peace with Russia as soon as possible.

We’re done funding Joe & Volod’s Laundromat.

I wish zeepers cared half as much for America as they do Ukraine.

You might remember, Galician was not part of Stalin’s famine. The far western tip of Ukraine where most of Ukrainian Nazis came from was Polish until 1939. In June 1941, the Nazis came in when they started Barbarosa. But you’ll never hear Lviv quit talking about the Holidomor,.even though they were not even part of it.
