Russia "could" do whatever they wanted in Ukraine if they "took the gloves off" and "didn't hold back" for two years now. Yes, it could have. But, the slow grind saves Russian lives.
And, that the Ukrainian defense lines are crumbling due to a shortage of manpower, the Russians are gaining ground daily with minimal causalities.
It should be obvious to anyone with functioning brain that Russians should take out the entire Ukrainian electric grid if they wanted to.

Pro Russian supporters have made declarations of imminent victory just like that, for obvious reasons just like those, for two years.
We are still waiting for it to happen. More of the usual talk is not winning the war for Russia.

Oh, is that the official excuse now?
Because to most of us, it just looks like Russia's military is fairly incompetent

the Russians are gaining ground daily with minimal causalities. You should study English more. "Minimal" doesn't mean "very many", like the 17,000 Russians who died in the recent assault on Avdiivka. They lost almost five hundred Russian soldiers per square kilometer.
