Can you describe neutral gender? And be specific. I can. In German there are three genders. We say, "das Brot (bread)." That is thw masculine form of "the". Then, "die Butter (butter)." That is the feminine form of "the". Then there is der, which is the neuter form of "the".

Sorry, I misremembered from ninth grade German. Der is masculine and das is neuter.

Pick up a garden hose and look at the ends. One is male, the other female. Now stick your finger into the female end and pull out the rubber washer. The washer is neutral. In pipe fitting, gaskets and flanges are neutral.
