If they’re going through all the trouble to warn you about how bad it is, and how unsafe it is, that means it’s probably secure and they can’t snoop. So, instead of forcing the parent company to give them access (which is in Russia according to the story), they just seek to scare everyone away from using it.

TRANSLATION: Private communications that the NSA cannot intercept and decrypt is “privacy.” Privacy is bad. Total surveillance is good.

I’ve never used it, and I never will. I have only Facebook as my sole social site. I closed everything else, including my Twitter/X account. I’m getting tired of all the bad news, all the evil, I see on those kinds of platforms.

I had never heard of Telegram until 2021, but I’m now a regular user. Several local conservative and patriotic groups began using it to communicate following the crackdown on conservatives and the MAGA movement by the FBI and Big Tech following J6.

“ Integrity Institute, a U.S think-tank…”

A 2 year old company populated with employees from Facebook, google and fired Twitter workers. Even Grindr is represented. Lots of studies on the wrong kind of misinformation. Nice propaganda and the circle jerk of self feeding DC is known.

you truly are a deep-state tw@t

Whatever they are for - more war, censorship on Americans, mass surveillance, rigged elections, massive debt spending - you have a propaganda article for just that.

Unless you can create your own encryption, assume everything digital is compromised and all meta-data is collected.

Fly below the radar, Big Brother is watching.

The Russian Tik-Tok ... or worse ...

Not surprising. You always obediently take your orders from the Deep State, MSM, Trudeau, Biden administration, WEF, and EU.

You really need to EDUCATE yourself before believing this psyops crap.

“The paradox lies in Telegram’s emphasis on its security and privacy features, despite there being no automatic end-to-end encryption in place; instead, message protection relies on policies rather than technology. Such a security flaw poses a risk to your privacy, and the availability of malware for hire poses a threat to your device. This becomes even more glaring when considering that Google Messages and Facebook Messenger now offer default end-to-end encryption. “

Absolute Orwellian BS propaganda...

From Telegram:

“Telegram messages are heavily encrypted and can self-destruct.”

to be fair, the Russian government tried but failed to get control over Telegram.

Telegram was launched in 2013 by the brothers Nikolai and Pavel Durov. Previously, the pair founded the Russian social network VK, which they left in 2014, saying it had been taken over by the government. Pavel sold his remaining stake in VK and left Russia after resisting government pressure.

Telegram is registered as a company in the British Virgin Islands and an LLC in Dubai.

I’ve used it and tried to see how to secure it within a company’s security apparatus (and it failed so we block it within the company’s firewalls).

It is a secure service and imho it is not Russian owned.

However, as a secure service it also means no govt can hack in - not the Russians, not the Chinese, not any American agency.

This is good AND bad — there are a lot of murky dark stuff out there as the article points out - it IS there.

This is, as always a question of security v/s individual independence.
