One of the first things you are taught in paramedic school is... ask a question of them, any question...
If they can speak, they can breathe....
If he was pleading with the officers to breathe, he was breathing.
[[If they can speak, they can breathe....]]
Beo4ge floyd was speaking very c,early and distinctly right up until the overdose from the many drugs in his system knocked him out. Back when it happened, I tried cutting off my windpipe and tried to speak- I could get out some words, but they were very distorted sou ding, and you could tell that something was restricting my voice- NONE of that happened in the f.oyd case- he spoke incessantly right up to the point he passed out, and even then video showed him taking breaths for awhile until the drugs did him in.
Had the knee been on his neck, shutting off his airway to the point of being dangerous, there is no way that he would have been able to speak. Video showed the knees, the whole time, on his back, never on his neck
Even if the weight on his back crushed his lungs and prevented him from breathing like the left claim, there is no way he could have spoken so clearly and distinctly
In a rational world that would be true. But jurors and others in the shallow end of the IQ pool may feel differently.
“If he was pleading with the officers to breathe, he was breathing.”
It’s the first thing they start saying now when the cops take them down.
‘I can’t breath’
‘I need medical attention’
‘I need water’
‘I didn’t do nothin’
‘why ya’ll aresstin’ me?’
‘give me my phone’.
