Fani Willis Told to Recuse Herself From Trump Case or Face Jail
Newsweek ^ | Apr 05, 2024 at 6:44 AM EDT | By James Bickerton US News Reporter

One of Donald Trump's co-defendants in his Georgia election interference case has threatened to launch legal action against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis if she "does not recuse herself from this case by noon on Monday."

The Context

Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has pleaded not guilty to a number of charges in Georgia over allegations he broke the law attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election result in the state. This is one of four criminal cases Trump is facing as he makes his bid for a second White House term. Trump has consistently denied all the allegations against him, which he claims are politically motivated.

What We Know

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Harrison Floyd wrote: "I don't want to put a black woman in Jail. But if Fani Willis does not recuse herself from this case by noon on Monday, I may have no other choice than to pursue all lawful remedies. Make Fulton Great Again."

Floyd posted part of an article purportedly from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution suggesting that Willis' office shared a recording of a conversation Willis had with his attorney, Carlos J.R. Salvado, in an unrelated criminal case in Maryland.

Floyd suggested that Willis' office may have violated the Maryland Wiretap Act, under which it is unlawful to record any private in-person conversation or telephone communication unless you are a party to the conversation and have the permission of all of the parties.

While the majority of states have one-party consent laws that allow a conversation to be recorded so long as one person agrees, there are 11 states, including Maryland, that require two-party consent.

I saw a claim somewhere that since Fatti sWill-ass the Ghettopotamus is “farce enlawment”, she can do anything she wants when it comes to violating the wiretap law.

She won’t recuse herself, so will anyone in Maryland go after her? Even if she has broken the law there? I bet she won’t be arrested, but if she is, I can’t wait to see her perp walk and mug shot.

As much as I distrust Newsweek, I have to admit that there is a change occurring there. Very confusing to my addled brain, yet well received on it's occasional foray into telling the truth. 🤣

Let's pray it turns into a sea change and that it is like the Covid virus in that it spreads quickly to other outlets dispensing the news for the truth to be received by more people, but is a beneficial virus that promotes freedom & no vaccine can be introduced. 👍

[[”I don’t want to put a black woman in Jail. ]]

What has a person’s color got to do with the fact that they broke the law?

She wasn’t “threatened with jail”, at least not by anyone with the power to put her there.

Actually, they had someone from Newsweek on Steve Bannon's War Room podcast, and he too seemed like a normal person. Otherwise, I would have taken this story as the anomaly I always see it as. But something is happening over there without question. Will it last & even grow, that is the important question to ask.

So, for the moment color me shocked & surprised, yet impressed & comforted with what I am seeing. I always believe that good will defeat evil. I take this as a sign that it is happening & that it will succeed. 🙂👍

Trust me, I understand your sentiment, & that it's certainly not time to celebrate yet, but it is time to give them more serious consideration & see if it continues or returns to what we have come to expect from them once again. 🙂

Obviously, but Independent means nothing. It’s how it actually operates that is important, and I am starting to give them more credit instead of immediately rejection based upon their past “independent” status. 🙂👍
