Biden could face challenges getting on Ohio general ballot

There could be potential general election ballot access concerns for President Joe Biden in Ohio, the state's Secretary of State's office said in a letter to Ohio Democratic Chair Liz Walters on Friday.

In the letter, obtained by ABC News, legal counsel for Secretary of State Frank LaRose sought clarification for "an apparent conflict in Ohio law" between the Democratic National Committee's nominating process and the deadline by which the party's presidential nominee must be certified to the Secretary of State's office.

The Democratic National Convention is scheduled to convene on Aug. 19, which will take place more than a week after the Aug. 7 deadline to certify a presidential candidate in Ohio, the office flagged according to state code, which would create a problem for Biden's eligibility.

Which also means if they pull a suspected Toricelli-Lautenberg type switch at the convention, its also problematic.

“I am left to conclude that the Democratic National Committee must either move up its nominating convention or the Ohio General Assembly must act by May 9, 2024 (90 days prior to a new law’s effective date) to create an exception to this statutory requirement,”

Guess which one is going to happen?

Yet we are rooting for Nebraska to change their law for allocating electors.

If our opposition regularly manipulates laws to overcome rules that hurt them, why can’t we?

Because we’d degenerate into a lawless society...er, wait. That’s what we’ve become. At least the remaining laws only apply to little people and the politically disfavored.

Doesn’t look like they would have the votes...though “nonpartisan” it is known which party the members belong to, and the Republicans have one less vote than the needed amount of votes to make the change, so a Democrat would have to vote for it.

If done by the legislature then it is within compliance to what the Constitution requires from a State Legislature about how elections are handled in a State.

The Nebraska Speaker of the House is trying to block the maneuver.

It would be pretty funny if Biden was left off a state ballot while he’s trying to use lawfare to make Trump ineligible.

I know that I’m dreaming, but here are some implications if Biden isn’t on the Ohio ballot:

1. Trump doesn’t have to waste his time there, or spend money there, as it’s usually a fairly close state.
2. Assuming that Trump’s people still turn out, which they will, and Biden’s people don’t turn out, nor have other ‘help’ in voting, then Trump wins by a HUGE landslide, which would give Trump a huge bump in the popular vote.
3. Down-ballot Democrats could really get DESTROYED.

It is amazing that the Democratic convention planners were this dumb.

I thought they had all the smart people.
