As we conclude, we must emphasize this fact. The Scriptures teach that the gift of tongues was to cease with the completion of the New Testament canon (1 Cor. 13:8ff).
As W. E. Vine wrote: “With the completion of Apostolic testimony and the completion of the Scriptures of truth (‘the faith once for all delivered to the saints,’ Jude 3, RV), ‘that which is perfect’ had come, and the temporary gifts were done away” (1951, 184).
1 Cor 13:8
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
So no more knowledge, either?

Jesus said in John 3:8, “The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.”
He said that when Spirit birth happens, you WILL HEAR a SOUND, but will not be able to understand how it happened. That is the case for EVERYONE that is born of the Spirit.

Has knowledge ceased? Have you seen Jesus Christ face to face? Do you know yourself even as you are known?
Faith, hope, and charity are to be ever present in the Christian, 24/7/365. The other gifts are whenever God wants to give them.
