A state grand jury in Arizona on Wednesday indicted so-called "fake electors" who backed then-President Donald Trump in 2020, following a sprawling investigation into the alleged efforts to overturn Joe Biden’s win in the presidential election in the state.
One month after the 2020 election, 11 Trump supporters convened at the Arizona GOP’s headquarters in Phoenix to sign a certificate claiming to be Arizona’s 11 electors to the Electoral College, though Biden won the state by 10,457 votes and his electors were certified by state officials. The state Republican Party documented the signing of the certificate in a social media post and sent it to Congress and the National Archives.
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, a Democrat, won her election to be the state’s chief prosecutor in November 2022, replacing Republican Mark Brnovich, a one-time ally of Trump who later earned the former president’s scorn for not substantiating Trump’s claims of election fraud in the state.
“We have to make sure that it’s clear to everyone it’s unacceptable to try to steal an election, to undermine and overthrow an election, and that’s what happened,” Mayes told MSNBC last year after her election victory. “We have to make sure what happened in 2020 never happens again.”
The Arizona charges are the latest example of Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election sprouting into legal cases during his 2024 bid to retake office.
Arizona was one of seven states where “alternate electors” signed paperwork falsely claiming Trump had won the state. “Alternate electors” in Nevada, Georgia and Michigan have already been charged by prosecutors in their respective states.

Electors from both parties in Hawaii sent their EV's to DC while the vote count was contested. The President of the Senate (VP Nixon) then opened the Democrats' envelope to count the Dims EV's instead of the Republicans' EV's because by then it was considered that the Dims won Hawaii. Had the Republicans won Hawaii he would have counted the Republians' EV's.

The “alternate” electors ended up being the legitimate ones after all the recounts and challenges were completed.
The problem is that future they are creating directly impacts the rest of us as well.
They sure can pull the trigger on prosecuting our team members.
They can’t pull the trigger on doing a real investigation
of malfeasance.
At least that’s the way it seems to me.
I watched some of this trial. I loved how he tried to explain why he subpoenaed, the names, bank records, and routing numbers of people who contributed to give send go. Even the judge had a hard time understanding his excuse.

The AG herself stole the election by a few hundred votes; certain votes for R Abe Hamadeh were not counted and the Maricopa County deliberate mess certainly deprived Hamadeh of the winning margin. I really despise these phonies, themselves election thieves.

Alternate electors (standing by) are not fake electors.
If the OFFICIAL election results were determined to be different than the original count, the newly declared winner needed to have electors in standby ready.
This, BTW is a NORMAL, routine political operation all parties have carried out since forever. It’s just never been highlighted by any media to now turn a routine function into some wild supposed illegal activity that ISN’T AGAINST ANY LAWS.
