The pilot must not have been killed right away, and the passengers must have been able to discuss at least in whispers, it's too bad they couldn't have all overtaken the terrorists, but things were probably happening very fast.

Fox reported about an hour ago that AP had a feed that said that the passengers on this flight were herded to the back of the plane and ORDERED to call their relatives to tell them they were about to die. This came from the family of another passenger that called them.

A special load will hit a body and stay in that body, sure it's a risk, I would suggest pilots have both tasers and hand guns with special loads.

The skymarshalls (now discontinued) were given lower-powered rounds to prevent this.

Very good ideas. Along those lines, I have often thought why can't the flight deck be sealed, no doors, flight attendant, kitchen, bathroom, etc would all be contained in the flight deck. The pilots board from an outside door, then should there be any terrorist activity in the passengers area's, the pilot would simple press a buttom, release gas, put everyone asleep, land the plane.

Also, would it be practical to have those that work in buildings as tall as the WTC, be equiped with some kind of parachute. After seeing those people falling today, this idea hit me, at least it would be a "Chance" to live.

She didn't even have to respond to me, but she did in an almost personal way. She mentioned how happy she was to be a part of the Free Republic family. I'm crying again. It's so sad. I'm so mad.

. But you can rest assured that after today, any terrorist with a box cutter will be hijacking at the extreme risk of being ripped to shreds by a bunch of scared and angry passengers.

My thoughts exactly. Once they'd moved the flight crews to the back of the planes, you gotta ask WHY they'd need their own pilot...

Regardless, I think passengers will be a lot less compliant with hijackers in the future.

What if they miss the body and depressurize the cabin? I guess that's the risk...

If it pierces the skin, the pilot can just open up an airflow regulator in the front of the plane to compensate (airplanes are hardly leakproof). If it breaks a window, the pilot opens the regulator even wider or, if worst comes to worst, pops the oxygen masks.

The ending of the movie Goldfinger is total Hollywood.

Because of our national firearm phobia, not one innocent person on those planes was allowed to keep and bear arms - thanks to government regulations. Had the flight attendants and crew been required to carry a sidearm, and trained in its proper use, might the events of the past 24 hours been different? We'll never know. </font size>

But what will the result be?
I'm willing to bet more restrictions on freedom. More disarming of law-abiding citizens. For "safety."

How sad. I guess it all happened so quickly once they were taken over, they probably had only a few minutes.

I was told yesterday that Glasser rounds were specifically developed for use inside pressurized aircraft.

She might have asked "what do I tell the pilot" on her second call, after her husband had alerted the Justice Dept. and gotten info from them.

"...knives at throat of 12 year old girls?"

The goal should still be to overpower them, even if it means a lose of innocent lives. The passengers died anyway. The "12 girl old girls" died anyway. The issue here is maintining the sovereignty of the USA and returning the rule of law to the citizens of this country.

Once they have been over powered, make sure they never make it to trial alive. I read about a bus hijacking in NC a few years ago. The passengers over power the hijacker. When the police opened the door to the bus, the piece of scum hijacker's body fell out on to the pavement. Everyone on the bus said they didn't know who did in the hijacker. The police pressed no charges against anyone. And that's the way it should be. We get so caught up in the perp's rights, we give away the store, so to speak.

Aircraft are long overdue on internal video cameras...

Yes. I have been harping on this for years over on AVSIG on Compuserve. The pilots unions seem to be against it.

BTW, my computer died last weekend while I was gone. Hard Drive. I am typing this from the local library.
