Our Generation's Pearl Harbor

NASA satellite photo of the smoke plume
arisingfrom the wreckage of the World Trade Center.

From the Associated Press:
Grand total 266 dead on the aircraft.

–American Airlines Flight 11: A Boeing 767 en route from Boston to Los Angeles. The plane was carrying 81 passengers, nine flight attendants and two pilots. This plane took off from Boston at 7:59 AM and crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center at 8:45 AM.

–United Airlines Flight 175: A Boeing 767. The flight was bound from Boston to Los Angeles. It was carrying 56 passengers, two pilots and seven flight attendants. This plane took off at 8:14 AM and crashed into the south tower of the World Trade Center at 9:03 AM.

–American Airlines Flight 77: A Boeing 757 en route from Dulles Airport near Washington to Los Angeles. The plane was carrying 58 passengers, four flight attendants and two pilots. This plane crashed into the Pentagon at 9:40 AM.

–At 9:50 AM the south tower (Two World Trade Center) collapsed.

–United Airlines Flight 93: A Boeing 757, crashed southeast of Pittsburgh while en route from Newark, N.J. to San Francisco at 10:00 AM. The plane was carrying 38 passengers, two pilots and five flight attendants.

–At 10:29 AM the north tower (One World Trade Center) collapsed.

–At 5:25 PM Seven World Trade Center collapsed.

I expect that every American airport will now look and operate like an Israeli airport. Bear in mind that about 50,000 people work in the World Trade Center and this happened in the middle of an ordinary day of business. Fortunately there was about a one-hour delay between the impacts and the collapse of the towers. A lot of the people in the towers probably got out alive.

At least 266 people died on the aircraft. A total of two United aircraft and two American Airlines aircraft have crashed, and all Freepers are encouraged to pray for the families of those killed and injured. Relief efforts, particularly donations of blood, deserve our immediate support.

It is possible that the losses at Pearl Harbor will pale in comparison to this unbelievably dastardly attack. Total killed at Pearl Harbor were about 2,200. Over ten times that many were working in the WTC at the time of the attack.

NBC's Tim Russert reported from Washington that there is "unprecedented anger" in response to this attack, but they "don't know where or how to channel it." I anticipate that we will know very soon, and that our response will be devastating.

Both of the main towers have collapsed. Building Seven (lower right-hand corner of diagram) also collapsed several hours later.

Sometimes the truth hurts. At this point the American people are like a jury in a murder trial. The prosecutor is showing us the grisly pictures of the murder scene. We must never forget the horrible, dastardly magnitude of the crime that was committed.

Amen to that.

And bump to the thread...and hopefully anyone who is "on the fence" will see
the tragic photos of people chosing to jump rather than burn...and realize
that we MUST take action, even if Osama's minions strike back.

Thank you for this post. We can never forget.

Everytime I see the people jumping from the WTC I cry. It is so difficult for me to look at those photos. However, it is so important for me and every American to see them.

I think people should get the photos of the people jumping from the WTC and put them on signs every time they go to a peace rally.

Tonight I got home from the office and learned that bombs are starting to fall on Afghanistan.

Those idiots have no idea what they started.

I wasn't around during Pearl Harbor but I know a lot about it from watching the History channel so much... 9/11 is sooo much worse. Pearl harbor was a military base. They attacked our homeland. That picture of the rubble behind the statue of liberty is... I can't even explain it.

Give them hell Dubya!

Bryan, we will not forget September 11th when the unthinkable happened to this country. Thank you for sharing the photo evidence of why we are sending bombs into terrorists camps today.
The fire is still burning in New York, and now the fire has spread to those responsible for this monstrous act.

I have to admit, my eyes were watering a bit and that does not happen very often.
Notice the key words at the top of the thread: "They did not die in vain."

I repeat: The terrorists are willing to die. We must extract a price that they are not willing to pay.

Talking to a friend yesterday (the day activities began in Afghanistan), we were discussing whether it was prudent for the networks to cease airing the footage of planes hitting the towers, and the towers collapsing. Some say that it is too much for the American psyche...that it may not be beneficial to the peoples overall emotional health.

To this, he commented that he hopes that the networks continue to air those images. Because we must NEVER forget what those b*st*rds did to us. We must maintain a level of angst long enough to obliterate those who did this. And you know what? I agreed with him. Thanks for posting these.

And a big
BUMP!

Great pics, but where are the pictures of the dead bodies???
We are already seeing pictures of the dead in Afghanistan and the strikes are only 3 DAYS OLD.
Who was it who said the main stream media are ojective?
B.S. They have an agenda, and it is Anti-American.

Banish them all.

I'd sentence them to prison for a few months in prison cells surrounded by nasty looking wild boar and hogs. I'd feed the (four legged) animals while letting the bad guys sit and sleep in pig urine and feces.

Phase two would be a public execution carried out by an American hot looking blonde babe with a tattoo of each Trade Center tower on her B()t cheecks.

The babe would release some hungry hogs allowing them to nibble from toe to head.
