National program to distribute anthrax vaccine, gas masks, potassium iodine needed NOW !!!

Sorry if some consider this a vanity post. However, we all need to call/write our representatives and urge them to sponsor a progam to provide anthrax vaccines, gas masks, and potassium iodine for the entire U.S. populaton. Why are we sitting around on our hands just waiting for the next strike against us? If we know or suspect that the potential enemys have nuclear, biological, or chemical capabiltiy, then we should take steps to protect ourselves. If we get motivated, we could protect the whole country in a short period of time. We can survive this if we prepare ourselves. The WTC/Pentagon losses are staggering, but what is done is done. We need to worry about protecting what we have left. Sorry for any spelling mistakes in this post. God Bless America and all of You

First of all, anthrax has to be administered several times and then on a yearly basis. Do a Yahoo search on anthrax. Second, please post under Your Opinion so the rest of us don't have to wade through the crap. Thanks.

gas masks and potassium iodine can be distributed as fast as they can be made....

There is no working vaccine for Anthrax - yet. Just ask the military. And, anthrax can be genetically engineered to counteract any developed vaccine.

A gas mask will or will not protect against anthrax spores with warning???? I am not sure. At the very least potassium iodine should be distributed to all.

I hope you are correct. However, it could be in their interest to delay the release of bio,chem,nuc until we start our retaliation against them. Who knows? Two weeks ago, one might have said that "if they had the ability to knock out the WTC and Pentagon, they would have already done so." I am not trying to be sarcastic with you. I just want people to be prepared as best they can.

I have accepted the situation for what it is and am taking steps (the best I can) to be prepared. What else can I do?

They use whatever they have as soon as they can use it.

And anthrax isn't exactly easy stuff to manufacture, handle, and distribute.

People shouldn't fly into a panic. Respond, yes.

Well...I'm not so worried about Anthrax. Nuclear and Chemical yes. But I asked my Dad (a doctor) about this, and he says that you'd really need one of those special "forest fire" planes, and several thousand pounds of the stuff to make an effective strike. And I think SOMEONE is going to notice that sort of thing happening over their little burg or town. Especially a large city.

If you disperse the spores too far, then people won't get enough of an exposure to be infected. As I understand it (and if someone wants to correct me, please do with links :) you need to breath in a certain amount of anthrax spores before you are going to come down with the disease.

It's probably not a bad idea to keep a stash of antibiotics on hand, as well as iodine pills, to load up your thyroid. Of course, if they hit us with a suitcase nuke, the entire Middle East would soon become radioactive glass.

what I meant by "sitting on hands" is that we are not taking any "civil defense" measures. I guess the news media does not want to start a panic. That is why now is the time to stock up and dig in.....when there is no panic. If only one person who reads this thread takes some steps to prepare themselves for the unknown, then I will be happy.
