Thou Shalt Not Covet

You seem to be implying that everone has the same chance to reach the exalted heights of Bill Gates or any other achiever. The only way that this could be achieved is to begin with an 'even playing field', unfortunatly the world is not an even playing field, its a myth propogated by right wing economists and politicians to justify less involvement in welfare of their citizens.

Excuse me, but Bill Gates did not inherit his money. Granted, he was not born in a slum, but his parents were not super-rich, just comfortable upper-middle-class. His main advantage was that he is extremely smart, and has a lot of energy and drive.

The playing field is NOT level, and never will be. Some people are born smarter than others. Some people have more energy and drive than others. The ones that combine several of the positive qualities (intelligence, perceptiveness, energy, ambition, persistance) will be successful even if they start out relatively poor. The ones who combine several of the negative qualities(stupidity, lazyness, defeatism) will be unsuccessful, even if they start out with an advantaged childhood. That's the way it is. Socialists have killed millions in the process of trying to deny it, but that's the way it is.

Like most leftists, you confuse equality of opportunity with equality of results.

To do otherwise would be heresy for a Leftist.

A fundamental doctrine of the Left is that "everyone is the same" as far as inborn abilities, and therefore any inequality of result comes from the evil machinations of the powers-that-be.

To a Leftist, any inequality-of-result of any ethnic group MUST be because of inimical factors external to that group; it CANNOT be due to cultural inadequacies (that would be heresy), or genetic differences (that would be blasphemy and the suggestion will get you burned at the stake)

Yep. That's why they're oblivious to the connection between black underachievement and the loathing of "acting white" that pervades many black communities.

The Left REALLY doesn't like it when it's pointed out that Asian kids, arriving in this country with nothing and not even knowing English, are now disproportionately going to med school and getting science PhD's, and that per the FBI Uniform Crime Reports the Asian homicide rate is (per capita) 1/20th the black homicide rate.
