---HAHAHAHAHAHAH! love it! tell ya what, there will be a lot of guys figure what the heck for what is it now, a billion offered by those businessmen, and ten million by the US government? 10 mil for expenses sounds reasonable, with a bil profit! That buys a lot of rice and beans and bullets!

Ron Paul needs to be in the Senate.
This is sheer genius.

Uriel should get Kudo's for this. It was he who first proposed the idea. Check the links above.

This is great news. Liberty Committee (the Liberty Caucus PAC) has 17 standing Congressmen listed as Members (plus 5 or so ex-Congressmen who probably still have some old friends). If we can turn on a little heat to get
all of them on record supporting this Bill, that promises to be much more effective than asking Ron Paul to go it alone.
As you probably noticed, there is a great Question-and-Answer article about Marque and Reprisal on Liberty Committee's website. Re-iterates a lot of the points that we have been making here, but in more formal Congressional language. Pretty cool.
Thanks for staying on top of this, Demidog. You are really taking the original idea and running with it. Storm Orphan has already promised me a round of beers if I ever get back around Texas country; likewise, I think you're due a couple of cold ones if I ever get back that way, on me.
I'll sign the online petition immediately and will Call Rep. Dave Weldon's office Monday to express my support. He's not my Congressman, but his district is just a few hours up the road from south Florida (which is where I live now). Hopefully, he'll appreciate the call; I trust that every little bit helps.
And word on when the Congressional Printing office releases the text of the Bills?

Thanks for your efforts. Appreciate your support of Rep. Paul's Bills.
Best,
Uriel

I can't help it, the man is good.

I agree.

Can privateers fly the Jolly Roger, or is that for pirates only?;))
To: RightWhale
Was wondering if these letters of marque authorize private citizens to take ships out on the high seas and go after the enemy on their own, to keep whatever booty they may capture.Brittany Spears and Jennifer Lopez better make sure to avoid the high seas for a while. Lotsa FReeper guys out there wouldn't hesitate to take advantage of the Clintonesque semantics for a chance like that. ;^)

This really could work out well for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the political heat it would relieve from our govt. Killing Hors D'oeuvres Bin Laden (Saddam is after all the main course) by a private citizen would allow the U.S. to deflect any and all criticism. I love it--emailed thru the Liberty site my rep. Joe Hoeffel and will be watching him for response---Let's Roll

Yeah well I'm in TX country and I think Storm should by me a beer just because :) Heck, I'd buy him a beer just because. I didn't know he was in Texas.

From Ron Paul's webpage:
As provided for in this legislation, bin Laden or one of his associates is an enemy belligerent charged with having committed acts of war against the United States contrary to the law of nations. Hence, neither he nor one of his associates is a prisoner of war, nor is he or one of his associates an ordinary criminal defendant. Rather, as an enemy belligerents, they are subject to American court-martial jurisdiction to be tried for violation of acts of piracy against the laws of nations and, if convicted, punishable by life imprisonment or by death.
Most excellent! This fills the biggest gap in our strategy. Foreign terrorists do not deserve the right to domestic trials. They have committed acts of war. I'm sending my support to Mr. Paul.

I didn't know he was in Texas. I'm a tough-talking, deep-thinkin, beer-drinkin, liberty-lovin, ex-Army,
money-grubbin, mean sumbitch.
Where else would I be from? ;^)
