I've pestered my local idiots and I'll try to get a microphone in their faces on this. In the meantime I may drive down to DC and see if I can have a sit down with Ron Paul.

He's a good friend. We don't run in nearly the same circles, but I talk with him informally at least once or twice a month. And I know that he visits with Ross several times a year, on business.

At this point I'm just waiting on the public release of the text of HR3074 and HR3076. Once that is out and I have had a chance to review it (and especially if we can get some statements of support from some of the other 17 Liberty Committee congressmen), I'll try to work it in to a conversation.

Congressman Ron Paul has said that Congress can do more to fulfill its constitutional obligation of providing for the defense of our sovereign nation, and granting President Bush the authority to grant letters of marque and reprisal to capture or kill Osama bin Laden and his fellow terrorists is exactly what Congress should do.

I certainly hope this goes through. However, such steps to combat terrorism wouldn't play out well on TV. Bombing is the best way for all the world to see what we are doing. Unfortunately, we are doing nothing to combat terrorism by bombing Afghanistan. Bin Laden's network is believed to be scattered throughout the world. We need to relentlessly hunt down and kill those responsible for threatening our security, not blow millions of dollars worth of military weaponry on a fireworks show.
