I can't imagine a more stupid move the terrorists could make than to send anthrax to the US media outlets. Why, given another month or two, after the bodies of US innocents killed on Sep 11 have had a chance to reach room temerature, who can doubt that our media would have started to gen up sympathy for those poor, misinformed terrorists (or are they "freedom fighters")? Heck, given another 10-15 years our media would have awarded him with his own nation to rule (al la Nelson Mandela), and five years afterwards the teachers in our public schools would have been hailing Osama Ben Laden as one of the greatest men of all time (once again, al la Nelson Mandela).
Nothing could be more stupid than to start randomly poisoning the American public - and particularly the media. In my 43 years of life I have never seen the media support anything that wasn't destructive of this nation and, since that is obviously the terrorists' goal as well, attacking the media is tantamount to attacking their own best ally.
Unfortunately what these terrorists don't seem to understand is that the only thing the US has in more plentiful supply than cowards is megatons of nuclear explosives - and it would be all too easy, I suspect, for the US to rationalize the use of nukes by simply equating bio-weapons with nukes.

I personaly think Peter Jennings, or Dan Rather, sent Tom Brokaw the anthrax. (just kidding.)
;^)
Remember, the idea is to strike terror, not just kill a bunch of people...
They're that committed to their mission. Plus they're dopes.
Whatever it takes to bug you, Wiley. That's my sole purpose for being, you know.
Actually, it's rather ingenius.
It's essential to have the media "with the program" as it were.
Having been singled out for attack, I've no doubt the media is CERTAIN that (1) it is the government's job to protect them and (2) that the trading of certain liberties for security is in order.
They will then make certain we share their understanding.
