For those of you who didn't know (and I apologize if this information has already been posted), the NYC flag raised by the Fire Dept. over "Ground Zero" (as seen on frontpage of FR), has a new home. The Mayor of New York City was kind enough to send that very flag to USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71). In honor of all the brave men and women who perished in the terrible acts of September 11, and to salute the ongoing efforts of many of thousands of men and women across our great nation. The Flag was raised in by the Ship's Fire Party during an emotional ceremony. It will be proudly carried to where the ship goes.
Preparing to Raise Her
In Full Glory
GOD BLESS ALL THOSE WHO DID THEIR JOBS AT GROUND ZERO, AND MAY GOD GO WITH ALL THOSE WHO WILL DO THEIR JOBS TO DEFEND OUR ENDURING FREEDOM.
My spirit is lifted and a tear comes to the eye.

They also blasted "New York, New York" from the ship's loudspeakers as she left port...
When the Big Stick starts a whacking those responsible for the attack, or those who support or shelter them, I'd hope they once again break out this flag. Right now she's in the eastern Med, supposedly, but that could change, unless of course her targets are in the Beka Valley or other near the Med nests of these scumbags.

It symbolizes all that we are doing this for - and this great ship has the honor of carrying her as a daily reminder.
Speaking of the "BIG STICK."

That is a really great thing. I had finally gotten a block away from Ground Zero yesterday and there are still flags draped all over the place amidst the debris. The line of people there to view the wreckage was huge. It was a real intense experience seeing what was left standing of the WTC and all of the people at Ground Zero working so hard.
