"Remember the guy who said, "Ask not what your country can do for you . . . ?"Yeah, we remember a LOT about that guy! (AND his drunken family.)
Anyone ever notice how stupid Melloncamp looks when he tries to dance?

An idiot and manufactured no talent artist with un-American messages from day one of his so called career. He can't sing either. Send him to Afghanistan.

Well we're dropping our bombs
In southern hemisphere
And people are starving
Who live right here
And we're tearing down walls
In the name of peace
And they are killing each other
In the middle east
Well Love and Happiness
Have forgotten our names
And there's no value left
In Love and Happiness
They raise the price of oil
And they censor our mouths
If you're a young couple today
Forget buying a house
And we wage our wars
In the neighborhoods
We kill the young to feed the old
And man that ain't no good
Yeah but Love, and Happiness
Have forgotten our names
And there's no value left
In Love and Happiness
So if you sell arms
Or you run dope
You've got respect
And you got hope
But the rest of us die
On the battlefields
With wounds that fester and bleed
But never heal

"It never dawned on me that anybody was listening."They're not, John.

No, I would have never been dumb enough to pay for the tickets in the first place. LOL

I have been boycotting this dolt for years; not due to his political views, but to the fact that he basically wipes his a** on a CD and calls it "music".
To: ikka
Wouldn't that make him John Cougar Menstrelcramp then?

I couldn't stand his music prior to reading this so there is no threat of me boycotting this half-wit no talent. Can't add a thing to that.

Mellencamp is taking his own words more seriously. Though he is not selling nearly as well as he used to, his last three albums have found him sharpening his word choices and clarifying his sense of character. Apparently, "Little Johnny Cougar" cannot make the link between Marxist rants and poor record sales.
Since I've already purchased his records, throwing them out makes little sense. However smashing them to little bits and mailing them to his record company (Polygram, with a copy of this article) seems like it would be more satisfying.
I can't get my money back, but Polygram records would understand why they won't get any more of my cash.

"If you look at the world as a global family, and your little brother kills somebody else in the family, you don't get all the big brothers together and kill that brother," Mellencamp says.Apparently Mellencamp is completely unaware of the decidedly un-PC paternalistic implications of this statement. He needs to bone up on the approved lexicon of moral equivalence if he intends to represent the appeasement crowd properly.

JCM's lyrics:
"Ain't that America
Home of the Free
Ain't that America
Little PINKO houses
for you and for me"...

Hey John, what if that "little brother" of yours had an M-16 and kept firing it at other members of your family? Do you think that singing a song to him would make him stop?
BTW, FReepers, Mellencamp also threatened to sue the Bush campaign last year when they were using his song "R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A." during periods between speeches. He said he was a "liberal" and didn't want a Republican to use his songs.

People at the speeches should have sued.

I think the people running the GOP campaigns ought to do a little more research before they lift leftie lyrics for their campaign appearances, and find out what these songs really mean, like RR's '84 campaign using "Born in the USA". Of course, if they played music from GOP-friendly artists, the crowds might get a little sick of Wayne Newton and Pat Boone :>)
