I found the FreeRepublic through Drudge too. It was the place to be during the impeachment hearing and trial. I lurked for months before finally signing on. Been here ever since.

(I remember your post on that thread - read it to my husband who then got interested in the internet..........:-)

Lady X - Yes, many good memories. Meeting you in Charlotte is one of them! Attending the March for Justice with my two Florida friends (who lurk - I know you do, Naomi and Lex - now but don't post) is another. There I met Jim Robinson, Matt Drudge, Connie Hair, "Trixie", among others "celebs" - and all the fellow Clinton hating Freepers.

I am not sure who directed me to Free Republic. But I bought a computer in 1994 in order to find Town Hall (that Rush referenced) and was in that Chat room until they started charging for memebership. (They used to have "threads" like this there....remember when....then most people left there. My friend Coco from there and I had many hilarious moments before Freepin was founded. The wit there was fabulous - but has been more than matched here).

Somewhere along the line, maybe at Town Hall, I discovered all the Whitewater info I could find. I also read The American Spectator with a passion - (thank you R.E. Tyrrell).

But my favorite website, until I found FR, was The BeachBum's Clinton Scandal page.

So much has happened since then.

Bottom line - in 1992 - the attempted overt overthrow of America was begun by the Clintonistas. It has been a mighty battle ever since......with Sept 11 just the most dangerous episode in the "long war" to this date.

It still is amazing to me that the most dangerous terrorist in America now sits in the United States Senate - and has not been arrested yet!

I meant to post a link to The Beach Bum's Clinton Scandal Page since it was my favorite for a long while.

I really enjoyed the banter before Lucianne got weird. Mostly I loved the support for Paula Jones, Linda Tripp, Billy Dale, etc, etc, all the 'average joes' the clintons tried to ruin or trample, crush, whatever.

I lurked for about two months after finding FreeRepublic while I was doing an internet search about one of Clintons scandals. Fell in love and really NEEDED to post about something so signed up in April of 1998.

The anonymous moderators were the best idea. A bunch of people left because of the posting nazis who weren't (officially?) affiliated with the board. It was interesting to stand back and watch it all shake out, the founding of lucianne.com, eschoir, the anti-freepers.

All in all it's been quite a ride.

I remember it well, always looking for the break in the Clinton garbage. Always wating for the fat lady to come to the stage to sing and she really never made it. At least he is gone and, with a little luck, she will be gone next election.

BUMP

In celebration of my sixth anniversary today on FreeRepublic.

Best wishes to the "Old Guard" - those who have passed, those who are exiled, and those who remain.

I started lurking on FR sometime in 1998. I was alerted to FR via the CAS (Clinton Adminstration Scandals) list service. This list service started out with the name CS (Clinton Scandals) and was the brain child of a guy named David Sussman. Through some adminstrative difficulties and some implied problems who did not like Mr. Sussman's efforts (I'm choosing my words carefully here), the service was handed over to Ray Heizer who handled the CAS service. That lasted a couple of years until FR came along and everyone migrated there.

From the CAS/CS days I remember Hugh Sprunt, Huey2, Michael Rivereo (love him or hate him), ML/NJ, Alan Favish and many others I've seen of FR. The topics in those revolved around Vince Foster, Ron Brown, Waco and Ok City.

I had a chance to meet several of the CAS folks at the Rally on the Mall during October 1998.

Thanks to Jim and others at FR for a powerful "tool of truth".

I remember that day! I have always been a lurker...but have wondered when I began coming here every day. Your post and sign up date help me to at least get a general idea of when it was. Thanks.
