I need the 'censored' photos.
My Personal Project | Today | Looking4Truth

Posted on 10/22/2001 10:53:24 PM PDT by Looking4Truth

Disclaimer: Maybe this shouldn't be posted under Current Events but Vanity, but I believe the event should remain current in our minds.

This thread hopefully doesn't offend victims of the cowardly terrorist attack (Not "tragedy", or "mishap") as the Big Media would like to spin it.

My request is simple.

I am starting a collection of photos, video captures, etc for a special project that I've been developing which I may title something like "America Will Never Forget".

Let me give you a little background about my personal development since joining FR (and lurking for at least a year before that).

My education beyond my little world has increased exponentially since becoming a member here and I will be eternally grateful.

Now comes the rough part. I am not a morbid individual, but I am trying to ferret out the 'bad', 'censored' and otherwise NON-Big Media accepted version of the images that Big Media has decided we need to see.

I've seen a few very gory distaster(or otherwise) situations in my lifeand I can see from the very beginning that Big Media is sanitizing the info we receive already regarding the 'tradgey' (effin euphemisms).

Bottom line. I want the gut-wrenching pics that some of you may have sources for that I can use. Not that seeing people fall to their death vs. getting incinerated by 2000deg flames wasn't enough.

I want the hardcore stuff.

The reason that I am passionate about this cause is it took me forty years to finally see some actual photos of naked jews getting gunned down in cold blood from behind and I have been educated very thoroughly about the holocaust since I was a child but still never experienced actual images until I came to ....you guessed it.... FreeRepublic.

I don't want history obscured like it was when I went to school.

FReepmail me with links or tell me to FOAD.

I've already got the crash video and photos, lots of the recovery images, but I think you know what I am looking for.

My heartfelt condolences go to the families who have directly been affected, the poor little innocent children who had to deal with by 'expressing themselves thru drawing' or some liberal BS 'counseling', and he heroic fire and rescue people involved in this TERRORIST ATTACK.

If the project comes to fruition, it will not be for personal gain.

The world should never forget this cowardly, pathetic attempt to frighten the greatest country in the history of the world into submission.

Let's Roll!

I won't give you my business account, but If you want to help either link images somewhere where I can get them thru FReepmail or send directly to JGRobertsBassist@hotmail.com.

My point was that it won't help. Anyone who would "it wasn't that bad" when referring to the WTC or the Holocaust will not be swayed by a bunch of gory photos. The purpose of gore is to titilate or persuade someone against a manner of behavior (like the old drivers ed movies).

You sound like one of those suckers that believe 'parental controls' in AOL actually work.

How many shitholes have you lived in during your life. Probably nothing more than the suburbs.

Where do we see the vast amount of gore? The entertainment industry.

But the real world is much tougher, guess you haven't seen much of it, huh?

Good job of drawing me out I must say. I said I wouldn't respond to your posts a few hours ago, but you just want to keep digging on me.

The ones who understand will see my point.

Go back to your ESPN, NASCAR and all the rest of your sucker life.

Sorry for the slam, but that is how you come across.

He is a busy tourist. When does the game "Where in the World is The Tourist Guy?" come out. Screw Carmen Sandiego.

HEY! How do you know there is only *a* Tourist Guy? There could be many, a whole army, of Tourist Guys. Get a grip... Hard to say, there maybe a bunch of Tourist Guys working at INS, 7-11s, motels, and Chinese restaurants.

If you are replying to the earlier post with Tourist Guy in it that I bitched about, whatever.

I love the Tourist Guy threads, but my ego got the best of me last night when that TG post showed up in this thread.

Any more questions?

I agree with you that we need to keep the pictures. I have kept the awful picture showing all the people by the windows of the WTC. A woman holding a baby can be seen. It terrifies me every time I see it. But I too want to never ever forget how horrible it was.

It disturbs me also how our press keeps showing us enemy wounded and dead, but won't show us ours.

However, this is where I am really torn. I do not think I could bear to happen upon the mangled faces of my friends that were murdered there on the front page of a magazine, or on T.V. as if it were entertainment. I cannot bear the thought that their children would have to see it.

I cannot be objective here. If it matters to you, I don't think you are a wierdo or anything to want a visual record of the atrocities. I just don't want to see them.

The same people who think Annie Sprinkle and a cucumber is art.

Hey, what Annie puts in her salad is her business!

Thank you for posting the link at post #75.

I don't think gory pictures can tell the same story that I found at your link.

Pictures are only a moment stopped in time. But, your linked log of emergency phone calls from the victims of 9-11-01 showed people confused and hurt, trapped, unable to open hot doors, trapped in elevators, doors to stairways locked, calling for help, some jumping, the sound of the crumbling building...then...silence.

The poster who "needs" censored photos should include that log in his book.

I can relate, some people have seen enough. My only goal is to record this TERRORIST ATTACK for future reference.

Like I said on a previous post, I can barely look at even the photo of the firefighters re-raising the flag without crying.

BTW, I have a killer image that occured shortly after the 2nd tower coming down that has what I believe was the typical flagpoles that most buildings have, it is dark, not the best in a photog's eyes , but the flag was still standing. Immediately after the collapse.

That was very powerful.

One reason your project might be necessary is the conversation I had with a lady at the airport a couple days ago who told me with great authority that those people at the World Trade Center buildings didn't jump, they were blown out.

Main site: World New York

The pictures may be good from that site, but its politics stinks

Drudge reports Senator Clinton was booed at the 'Heroes for New York' concert.
Our response: "Heroes" did not boo Senator Clinton. This may sound like sacrilege, but most of the cops and firemen in this town are not heroes. They are working stiffs looking for a secure job from which they can retire in 20 years.
The "heroes" mumbo-jumbo should have stopped before now, but lionizing such people seems to have gone beyond the super men who raced up the stairs in those buildings as everyone else ran down. The lauding has gone so far that it now encompasses the schmucks, turds and rejects who clutter up what are otherwise decent professions, until those who are undeserving start to believe they are somehow worthy of the glory, the praise, the attention. (It's also gone so far that a disproportionate amount of the money raised is earmarked for the families of the few hundred emergency personnel, to the disregard of the thousands of other victims and their families.)
Why would these people "boo" Senator Clinton? Not all did, by any report, but those who did are probably a part of the large number of the cops and firemen in this town are politically conservative, from undiverse neighborhoods, not educated much above high school, and as small-town as you can get and still be from New York City. They are, then, the very types who resent efforts made by forward-thinking, worldly politicians, which how Senator Clinton could be described.
People distrust her, and her husband; or rather, the Clintons tend to bring out anti-intellectualism. It's an ugly American past-time, hating the smart. It's everywhere, pervasive in all media, in the schools, in the workplaces, in the newspapers. The Clintons are big, fat targets, too good to resist by people who feel their anti-intellectual tendencies are supported and approved of by others. They feel authorized to criticize the wonks, the policy geeks, the professional bookworms. Unless you sound unassumingly dull, or like country hick, Americans tend to dislike you. If you know what you're talking about, and you're confident, people think you're lying. Hell, even if you're slightly above average—just smarter than 51 percent of the population—that 51 percent tends to distrust you. In much the same way, it's always the idiots and morons who are the biggest conspiracy freaks: they're so dumb they think smart people are just making everything up, too, and so they'll pay heed to the first intelligible lie that comes along.
