Should Conservatives Support Rudeness? Why booing Senator Clinton is beneath us.
self

Posted on 10/23/2001 1:51:57 PM PDT by watsonfellow

First of all, to prevent the flamings, I should say that I am a strong conservative, and my number one issue is the life issue and so I am not at all a supporter of the Clintons etc.

That being said, I thought it the height of rudeness for these firemen and policemen to boo and yell at the Senator this weekend. It lacked dignity and class. I thought we conservatives were supposed to stand for such things, or perhaps this is just what we say, but do not practice.

I wonder what Burke et al would have said about this conservative embrace of very questionable manners.

The policemen and firemen should have just done nothing when she appeared on stage, no clapping, no booing, the silence would have expressed the same thing, but in a much more dignified way.

This isn't a Miss Manners class.

These people, the Clintons, have destroyed many of the rights we use to take for granted, they decimated the military, they have no moral character and are guilty of a variety of crimes that they will never be held accountable for and you are worried about the heros booing her. I don't think you have your priorities straight.

The Democrats depend on us thinking behavior like this is "beneath us." They use this against us over and over and over again.

Exactly. But between this incident, the GOPer's in Florida screaming and pounding on the doors in Miami-Dade to get the vote count out in the open last November, and those anti-tax people in Tennessee besieging the capitol a few months ago, conservatives may be finally figuring out that it's not those who have the truth on their side who win the PR wars -- it's those who are the loudest and most obnoxious.

The worst thing they could have done was ask her to take questions from the audience. She would have melted on live t.v.!!!!! (And that would have been delightful, except the part about cleaning the mess after she dissolved...)

This person is still very naive and weak, or they're a shill.

I think he's a shill.

Excuse me, vote fraud is beneath New Yorkers. Booing is an acceptable way to vent intense frustration at criminals who steal public offices and commit criminal acts after they TAKE office.

When you're 3 1/2 hours into a concert and beer is being served, expect to get a gut level reaction. Besides, this was a benefit for them - she came to their turf so to speak, when they were off duty and relaxing.

Hillary deleted my post at her site where I said I will work for her recall and that I freeped her good as a german soldier on the cover of the daily star. She left the picture of Bill up where she beat him in the face. LOL

If HILLARY! made herself available to questioning or would deign to appear with the unscreened common folk for anything other than tightly controlled public relations events, then it would not be necessary to boo her at every available opportunity. However, the Clintons tightly control HILLARY!'s public appearances and eliminate the possiblity that SHE! could be held accountable in any other way. Given no other option, we must boo as loudly and rudely as we can whenever we can.

I think we should boo, and loudly. The problem with we conservatives/small government types is that we are too polite.
When we hear some leftist idiot spouting off, what do we do? Do we confront? Oh, never; someone might think we weren't nice, and we wouldn't want that, would we?
We NEED to speak up, because these leftist, environmentalist, socialist whackos think they represent the majority viewpoint! Unbelievable but true! They think this because they never hear a contrary point of view. They don't hear it from the media, they don't hear it from the schools, and they don't hear it from their neighbors. Let's show them that we have our own ideas about how things should work. There are more of us than there are of them! Speak out, don't be shy!!

I too feel that the booing was disgraceful. She (Hillary) probably deserved it, however I would not do that. It lacks class. I will say that the fireman and police have been though a lot and it was a very interesting show of how she does not represent NYC, nor NY. I think your statement about showing class is directed to fellow FReepers, not the audience in NYC. They did what they did. We shouldn't worry about it or cheer. It just was what it was -- did we expect her to be adorned by a state she's never lived in. Do we expect our Americans to want them in the spotlight? NO. NYC's tradegy is not about the Clintons'.. it's about American. A place they do not know how to represent. They belong in Europe or someplace that does not hold dear the freedoms that we do here in Freepville. The worst part is that Bill didn't get more boos. I think it's sad that she was set up to fall. Perhaps this is the humbling experience she needs to get a clue. (Hey I am the eternal optimist). Don't like the woman but am not an angry person.

watsonfellow....

Indeed Thomas Watson your mentor would agree with you, because he was a gentleman first class. I know that first hand.

Now, there is a time and place in every war for people like me, lower class to be sure, never the less, it is war and such is not fought with silk gloves. Someone has to get down in the trenches, in the dirt, with their people that wish to enslave me. The Clintons are such and therefore no quarter is to be given or asked.

Any person that has the arrogant gall to tell the little people not to make eye contact with them is beyond the pale. They are indeed beyond description. Take time to research what Hillary Clinton has ever accomplished on her own, or ever done for the good of mankind. Nothing. She warrants not even the every day civility that those of us in the lower class use every day for each other.

Alexander Hamilton was once pelted with rotten fruits and vegetables. I think Hill deserves at least that.

Humility is a productive thing: it allows one to "grow".

And isn't she one who would always be asking why the Arabs hate America so much?? Let her ask the same for herself.

Booing Hillary was, well, elementary, My Dear Watsonfellow. As the dictionary says:

boo [boo ] interjection 1. expressing disapproval: used to express dissatisfaction or contempt, especially at a speaker or performer

these guys who put there money, their lives and their sacred honor on the line were expressing their "disapproval, dissatisfaction and contempt" for the "speaker" and "performer".
