First of all, to prevent the flamings, I should say that I am a strong conservative, and my number one issue is the life issue and so I am not at all a supporter of the Clintons etc.
That being said, I thought it the height of rudeness for these firemen and policemen to boo and yell at the Senator this weekend. It lacked dignity and class. I thought we conservatives were supposed to stand for such things, or perhaps this is just what we say, but do not practice.
I wonder what Burke et al would have said about this conservative embrace of very questionable manners.
The policemen and firemen should have just done nothing when she appeared on stage, no clapping, no booing, the silence would have expressed the same thing, but in a much more dignified way.
That fireman on Rush said it right. Hillary will say or do anything to get through the moment. Right now, not supporting Bush would be highly unpopular, so even though she likely hates his guts, she will say nice things. Don't ever trust this woman. She will turn on you in a second.
Pray for GW and the Troops.
I like to believe in the "high moral ground" but sometimes that just turns you into a doormat.
They expressed an opinion and they were heard.
Would you rather they remain silent and everyone believe she had 100% support?

Senator Hillary Clinton has done little for these people except to offer the usual platitudes and then, effectively disappear. Prior to her election she made anti-police remarks, to the point of calling policemen who were alleged to have killed an unarmed man, murderers, long before any proof was presented that this was a 'murder' (the policemen were aqquited).
Bill Clinton's sudden and unjustified pardon of convicted cop-killers before the 2000 election was a tranparent and obvious ploy to payback supporters and gain votes from the Puerto Rican community in New York. This did not go unnoticed by New York City police.
In short, Hillary has been tepid in her support for the war, she has said and done no more than necessary for victims and her anti-police attitude is well known. With this background she appears at a benefit concert filled with Firemen and Policemen still hurting from the losses they suffered as a group on September 11th. Her lukewarm support for the victims and tepid backing of President Bush combined with the past anti-police actions and statements she has been noted for come to a head, even for just a few moments and yes, she is booed.
To characterize the booing as an uncouth action beneath the people involved is to step away from the political and emotional reality of the moment and fails to deal with the fact that these were Police and Firemen, not the royal court of St. James and Hillary is not the Queen, just a junior Senator, a politician, not loved by all, to put it gently, as you would no doubt prefer.
Senator Clinton earned that booing and I do not feel sorry for her or believe that the people doing the booing need to apoligize; Hillary had it coming.
There is no amount of derision that is undeserved by the Clintons. It is always appropriate to display that derision openly and should become a national pastime and tradition. After they are dead and buried, tour buses should come to their graves carrying people who wish to urinate upon them - an activity which should be encouraged. This derision of the Clintons should be so ingrained in our culture that it becomes genetically programmed and instinctual to our species.
Personally, I am unable to see either Clinton on television without voicing my own colorful derision until they are gone from the screen.
And they also surely know that she's an elitist sow who thinks that an expensive education makes her a better person than those who do real, honest "dirty work."
It's not the crowd's fault that the former co-president got booed. Know your audience. Be prepared going in, or suffer the concequences. Mrs. Cling-on had many more reasons than 9/11 to be booed by law enforcement or firemen(persons). From FALN, to cash-for-vote schemes....these are people on the frontlines who realized because of 9/11 just how awful she is. I support those who were beneath us, and given the opportunity would have sunk as low.
As for booing being "beneath us" I'd cavil in the use of both terms - they imply a set of people with not only similar political beliefs (which we are not) but a similar degree of politesse as well (which we are certainly not). And as for respect, I submit that those who boo her are showing her precisely the same respect that she has, on numerous occasions, shown those with whose political beliefs she disagrees. Respect is earned, not deserved.
Is there something about being a Senator, a pampered, protected darling of the well-endowed ruling class, that is more ennobling than, say being a fireman, or a policeman?
Watching the hostility build as she spoke my guess is the only thing preventing a physical removal was Secret Service protection (which everyone knew was there.) Pretty sickening.
