'Even after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, "the veil of religion that has been draped over mosques . . . will be tough to move off,"

Hmm . . . The IRS seems to have no problem breaking religious organizations. Wonder why the kid gloves are still on? Are our FBIs just plain afraid of real criminals?

Yes, and I don't remember Pres. Clinton standing up and calling for tolerance of the Davidian's admittedly non-mainstream brand of Christian religion like Bush has done for Muslims. Instead, Pres. Clinton headed-up the hate fest in America (aided and abetted by the media) by calling them a bunch of religious fanatics who killed themselves. I will never understand -- you come here from abroad filled with hate for everything and everyone American and kill 6000 people and you get the President praising your religion and refusing to admit the real connections between religiously fueled hate and terrorism. But if you are a non-traditional Christian group that hasen't hurt anyone but has shown an interest in (horror upon horror) GUNS, then you are fair game for every alphabet agency in the federal phone directory.

Only in America is the government more concerned to protect the "rights" of those people who are here illegally and are determined to kill us than it is to protect the rights of harmless citizens who have non-mainstream Christian religious beliefs. This governmental insanity doesn't bode well for our very survival as a nation, and bodes even less well for our civil liberties.

If the FBI won't go after Imans who call for the overthrow of America, maybe we ought to fire them and hire Mossad. 5 posted on 10/29/01 5:11 AM Pacific by Vigilanteman [

If it's WP, it is highly questionable, The WP, NY Times moles and rats within the administration seldom if ever represent the administration's position.

Fearing charges of religious persecution, the FBI for years has hesitated to investigate radical Islamic clerics in the United States despite evidence that their mosques have been used to recruit and fund suspected terrorists, present and former law enforcement officials said.

The great and terrible FBI, destroyer of freedoms and enslaver of millions. LOL!

Yeah, never mind that some elements of the prolife movement were deliberately engaging in violations of federal law (blockading clinics, bombing clinics, shooting abortionists). The FBI was just persecuting them. Never mind that in the 1980s, the FBI was pretty squeamish. It took a doctor getting shot to get the FBI to crack down on violence against abortionists. (BTW, I am pro-life; I was appalled by the violent extremes of the movement, because they'd sold out to the very cause they claimed to be opposing--the culture of death.)

Now that a few folks have been outed as supporting a jihad, look for FBI squeamishness about going after imams to vanish.

Remember when the press used to do investigative reporting of their own instead of relying on government press briefings and daily DNC PR (a la Clinton) pieces? We can help. (^:

I think Our Republic is almost gone. Gone with the wind!

We will NEVER get back that freewheeling 1950's and late 1960's, "love the world(we can make a difference and change the world)" feeling, and way of life.

It was great being a teenager in the late 1960's!!It wasn't too bad in the 1970's either...the early 1970's!

Maybe the FBI and the IRS should swap responsibilities. That would be interesting.
