Old Dealer, I heard that same Professor blame America's space policies for the Martian attack. The Professor said it was a shame that our flag has 48 stars on it, since we have, in his words, a "xenophobic" space policy that "oppresses" the Martians.

I may be wrong here, but doesnt the Pleiades star cluster, aka Messier 45, The Seven Sisters, The Children of Atlas, or the Daughters of Pleone appear directly overhead at midnight every 52 years?
The Aztecs may have been fearful of it, but I don't think it's something we really need to worry about.
