I should have mentioned, both those newsstands were located at train stations -- one in Trenton and one in Jersey City.

Maybe his past employment gave him ideas. If I were a terrorist, and I wanted to give someone inhaled anthrax, I'd for sure want them to take some nice, deep inhalations of it. Those little magazine inserts might be one way to go. And note, they are saying (so far) that they've found no anthrax in her apartment, yet they did find some on the clothing she was wearing when admitted into the hospital. People browse at newsstands all the time, and might not necessarily buy the magazines they browse.
