The main effect of airburst is to considerably expand the radius of heat effects, thus percentage of buildings that catch on fire. EMP might also expand a bit. You would especially get an effect with EMP resonating on electrical transmission and telecom wires, resulting in circuits and systems going down quite a few miles from ground zero. The trade off is that you get less blast effect and smaller radii of destruction.
There is a reason why those directives have gone out prohibiting not just overflights, but overflights within several miles radius of nuclear power plants, etc.
No organization no matter how completely stupid they are is going to smuggle 20 nuclear bombs into a country and then use four planes to attack that same country.

I like your thought process....fortunately though....I dont think it is possible to smuggle twenty suitcase nukes into this coutry without one being found...twenty-for-twenty?

Like I said though...
I am certain that our Best and Brightest are on this threat of suitcase Nukes....I believe Putin would be honest about their inventories and I believe if any were missing that we would be all over it like white on rice....we havent been in the past but we all understand the reasons for that...if the threat of suitcase Nukes was credible...then Congressional and Senate leaders would be called to the White House and the situation explained....
Marshal law would be declared and then refer back to my original scenario.
This is something I've asked myself a lot recently, and I have some speculation that I haven't seen posted, so I'll put it up here. I think the thought process behind what's going on is understandable, but I think the notion of "crazy terrorists" is a red herring.
I think the bulk of this crisis is driven by domestic, US agenda. I believe the Taliban were acting as "contract agents" in the 911 attack.
Here in the US, the struggle is between at least two power blocs, two coalitions. On one hand, you have the globalists/facists using every incident to increase the powers of the Feds and their control over US citizens. On the other hand, you have the "other side" using every incident to undermine faith in the economy and the whole earn/consume cycle that keeps the stock market crowd in power, presumably to force military rule prior to the patriots "purging" the government and restoring a pure Constitional republic.
How does this help understanding the thinking? Why does this lead me to believe that nuclear weapons or serious biochem threats are next?
Because in a modern democracy -- even a superficial one -- everything depends on HOW MANY people will VOTE for WHAT. And there are only THREE ways to manipulate a popluation's vote: 1) By logic and reason. 2) By propaganda and manipulation. 3) By killing people who don't vote your way.
In modern America, #1 has done all it can do. In modern America, #2 has reached its extreme as well. Politicians have lied all they can. Businessmen have promised all the free lunches they can deliver.
All that remains is #3: To start killing large blocs of voters.
Watch for nuclear/biochem attacks that will be targetted either to make Blue Nation red, or Red Nation blue.
I don't believe there's anything mystical about what's happening to us. I think it's just desperate politicians pushed to their limits and the limits of the context around us. Time will tell.

Why recruit and train 20 highjackers to be able to fly airliners...pay out close to $500,000.00 and take two years preparing for the whole operation at all times risking having the plan exposed when you could've walked in a suitcase Nuke and taken down the WTC and ten other buildings at the same time...along with the Pentagon.....downtown Chicago.....downtown Los Angeles.....downtown this....downtown that....yadayadayada.

Why waste your suitcase nukes which were reportedly obtained at the cost of $30 million and 2 tons of heroin when you can use a 19 men and a couple of box cutters to achieve the same result? Wouldn't you want to deplete your "conventional" resources first? I know I would. You make my point, however, they spent three years planning this act. They may have spend 5 or more years on the next act. They are very patient. You act as though the planning and implementation of one act is not allowed to overlap the planning and implementation of the next. They could have pulled the trigger on the Airliner attack before the pulled the trigger on the Embassy bombings correct? But they didn't because they are working off of the terrorist timetable and not our timetable.
Even if they didn't succeed in getting nukes in, the mere fact they want to and are thinking about it is serious. Americans need to understand a lot more than they do about Islam and what Muslims mean when they say they are peace loving. They are in their own way, but they believe peace will happen when the whole world becomes Islamic and everyone is living under Sharia. That's the peace they want and are working for, heretics and critics will be put to death, just as they'd put Salmon Rushdie to death. The Nazis too wanted a kind of peace but they believed much the same, they had to get rid of certain types before they could have it.
They are very much like the Nazis in the way they think and live. The difference is, the Nazis turned out to be a temporary historical aberration. Islamic-Facism is like an incurable virus. Our planet will be sick with it for centuries more.

I have decided that I am going to smuggle twenty Nuclear weapons into Russia but instead of using them...I am gonna crash four airliners into the Kremlin and some really tall buildings in Novosibirsk.
Of course I know that this will result in the entire Virginia population living in Russia being placed under a microscope, shaken down and arrested which in tow means that my nuclear bombs will be discovered (did I mention that they cost me $30 million and 2 tons of tobacco?)...but hey...I am on a timeline baby.
