Well, SA, I'll tell ya this: U, my cousin-in-law, is a Kurdish Jew. Great guy--love him. But he is several shades darker than all the Ashkenazi Jews I know. This doesn't jibe with the evident lack of intermarriage that they talk about among the Ashkenazi. Oh well...I guess I still have to believe the genes.

Pigmentation can change relatively fast without admixture of foreign genes. After a thousand or so years related groups can diverge visibly in their adaptation to the climate and sunshine.

I am trying to locate any DNA research projects currently being conducted to link Jews to the jewish dispersion. If you have any info I would greatly appreciate it if you would email me. Thank you.

The Cohen Y Chromosome has been found in males "Black Jews” of the Lemba tribe in South Africa. DNA studies in England and the United States have confirmed this. The Lemba tribe has an oral history covering more than 2,000 years - they still follow the traditions of ancient Biblical Jews. “60 Minutes” showed a documentary on 4/23/2000 called The Lemba showing evidence of their knowledge of that history.

More recently.......on Youtube, a 5 part presentation (documentary) is being shown on the Lemba people. The Lemba Jews say they were never lost......they have only been scattered. Their trek, over 4,000 miles, from Assyria to “Yemen” down the coast of Africa through Zimbabwe is revealed and confirmed by archaeologist and now, the linkage by DNA lends proof to their knowledge.
