"These crazy Americans are reckless. They attack when they're NOT supposed to attack, and WON'T retreat when they are supposed to."Words to live by. Keeps 'em off balance.
BTW, on 9-11 I was 2000 miles from home. I flew home ASAP...and I had a plan. This lightweight woman wasn't gonna let anyone ruin my day and I was not gonna rely on anyone other than myself. I do believe, tho', that the others on my flights were thinking along the same lines. The atmosphere was pretty intense...

Women can kick those muslim men in the "You know where" place while us men give them karate chops and hold them whilst somebody uses their belts to tie their hands and feet. We must not freeze if they say they have a bomb, as they are most likely lieing.

We must all gather at the gate and make plans and arrainge for signals to be used to attack any hijackers.
Also when I was flying out of San Diego to St. Louis in mid October , there was an Hispanic young man acting a little suspicious, and I didn't report him. Nothing happened on my flight, but in retropspect, I should have reported it. My wife had me take the aisle seat to keep an eye on him and I would have definitely got some good punches in if he had tried anything. The young man was flying alone and had only a back-pack with him and would leave it by his seat (at the gate, while awaiting boarding) and leave it about three feet in front of his seat (unnatented) while he went who knows where, for five or ten minutes at a time. And when it was announced the flight was being delayed, he seemed might aggitated. He just seemed out of place, and NOT behaving normal (yeah I know, not normal according to ME and Muggs my wife).
So what's my point..I should have talked to a security person to watch him, just in case!
When we arrived at Dayton.Ohio International Airport, on last leg of flight, I saw the National Guard people milling around giggling and cutting up, wearing berets on their head, and I thought.WHAT A WASTE OF MANPOWER, THEY COULDN'T STOP ANYTHING FROM HAPPENING.

We are America's militia or terrorized victims. Crushing windpipes, gouging
out eyeballs, bursting ear drums with ear slaps, smashing teeth, breaking fingers, elbow and knee joints, and pen/pencil stabs will reprioritize terrorists' activities. Passive union aircrew members can give their eyewitness reports to authorities once on the ground.
Surviving Jihad Johnnies should await their death penalty in body casts.

They are concerned with the continuation of their command and control, it is acceptable to them to absorb losses rather than diminish theior command. They do not want to lose the ability to threaten the citizenry, to have the citizenry jump when they bark, or to show that there's any "solution" that exists outside of "government" doing it ... For an excellent case-study of a culture piloted into the ground by its power-addicted "leaders," written by a sympathetic eye-witness to the events, read the Gospel According to Luke and Acts of the Apostles.

I like the way you think!!!

I would hope that more people are taking stock of their surroundings on a plane and looking at what can be used as a weapon. Standing in line waiting to go through security, I realized that I had several items on me that would pass through that would come in handy.
The stylus from my PDA fits into the crotch of me hand and extends out ~2" past my thumb. It could be used to attack the eyes. My belt and its buckle could be used as a flail. The seatbelts on the plane are removeable. They can also be used as a flail. My coat could be used to trap an edged weapon. My briefcase could have made a good shield against edged weapons too. (I noticed, however, that the airline-issue, genuine polystyrene, "Norm Mineta Survival Knife" would have been useless.)
The rule of thumb, as has been mentioned elsewhere, is to fight dirty. There are no rules other than to win. Go for the eyes, bite, kick, scratch, throw headbutts, or whatever it takes. Keep pounding the other guy until he's no longer a threat. Yes, you should kick people when they're down. The guy who fights fair loses.

Personally, I thought Mr. Shoe Bomb looked to be in far too good a shape after he was subdued. If a Freeper had been onboard it would have been him that the Doc would have had to sedate.
To: MissAmericanPie
YEAH, he should have a ton of shoe size bruises on him at least.
