If his plane is hijacked, Don Detrich wants the attackers to know he will consider it his "patriotic duty to get up from my seat and kick ass."

As founder of the fledgling Flight Watch Hijacking Resistance League, Detrich has urged airline passengers to fight back, using weapons from ballpoint pens to beverage carts. As his message has spread from his Web site to media outlets from coast to coast, he's heard from dozens of potential recruits eager to get on board.

""It's a very risky proposition," Deeks said. "I realize passengers are going to act out..."

Act out? That's what you term a two-year old doing if he doesn't get attention. How about "fighting back"?

NO, no glue gun, just the stick. You must have never seen one. Go to a hardware store, or craft store and look at one, a ten inch stick. and smack yourself in the hand lightly and see how it STINGS!! After you smack the terrorist with it, cram it down his throat. Understand Now??!

A ten inch glue stick is somwhat flexible and it meant to STING. And I took one on board with me last month with no trouble at all.

As a preteen I once smacked a much bigger, older, bully across the back with a simple little plastic baseball bat, and it made his back sting so bad he was on the ground writhing in pain for quite a while.

--I'm in favor (until they get real on firearms) of an older laptop that still works, but is crappy. You got two good thrown weapons, the separate battery, and the laptop itself. some laptops like the old mac duos got two batts, so you got three 'shots' there. Another good stealth weapon is a ten pound funk and wagnalls assault dictionary, or similar large hard cover book.

...but a flight attendants' union official called Detrich's proposal "very dangerous."

No doubt headed and penned by a N.O.W./sucker mom/million mooer who would prefer to fly to her death.

COPYCAT WROTE: "I've held this since 9/11...just one armed citizen on each of the four planes would have saved THOUSANDS of lives. Thank you for keeping that reality alive."
