CNBC "Hardball" host and Democratic Party insider Chris Matthews said Saturday that New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton can't wait to become president of ther United States.

"She's dyin' for it," Matthews told NBC's Tim Russert, on Russert's own weekend CNBC interview show.

RUSSERT: What about your fellow Goldwater groupie Hillary Clinton?

MATTHEWS: Ah, you know, you're a New Yorker, a New York stater - um - Hillary is dyin' for it. But she's also miserable right now because of all this patriotic stuff going on - she can't stand it.

Matthews recalled an incident where Mrs. Clinton seemed reluctant to pledge allegiance to the American flag.

"I remember Hillary - I'll tell you this about Hillary," Matthews told Russert. "She once said, 'I pledge allegiance to the America that can be.'

"What, are we on probabtion?,' Matthews exclaimed.

"When is she gonna lighten up about this sort of thing," the CNBC host added. "This is a great place instead of her constant complaining."

We should be wary of course but I am not too worried. HRC was able to set the rules during her senate run and the NY media played by them. In a presidential race she could not avoid exposure to un-scripted venues. One session with Russert would punch serious holes in her boat. Think what O'reilly could do. Think of the ads taking advantage of her behaviour at Bush's Joint Session speech. Even the MOR press would start to dig into all the various "gates". No, I don't think we should worry....at least not yet.

Here's why not:

1. Hillary's re-election campaign is five years away. What does Rudy do 'til then?

2.Schumer's term ends sooner but would Rudy want to be junior senator from NY to Hillary's senior senator from NY position?

3. Rudy is an executive. He would not fit as one of 100, it's not in his persona.

YIkes! Remember trying to say that character mattered? And people would just laugh at us!!! Maybe now they get it.

Isn't that the truth.

The first three words of the headline would have been sufficient for me.

Me too. Matthews: 'Hillary Dying'

The best thing to happen to America would be to have this hideous political wench win her party's nomination for president in '04. We would settle this nonsense once and for all and the GOP would likely pick up her Senate seat. Go for it, you beast...make our day.

I respectfully disagree. Once she was nominated, I would not put it past her to have thugs do something to the GOP nominee or fake that a member of the VRWC had tried to do something to stop her crusade "for the children." She could throw the nation into turmoil and actually have a chance of winning.

Hillary will run. I DO NOT THINK she can win in 2004. I'll put money on this.

Hillary doesn't have it

I'm actually almost convinced that the Dem Party would never allow Hillary to become the nominee. It's certainly not going to happen in '04. '08 is another matter. I also have confidence in the voters that they are more intelligent than to fall for Hillary's B.S. It was easy for me to understand how she became a NY senator but becoming president is another matter all together. I'm sticking to my guns...I want Hillary to become the Dem nominee...it would become the ultimate political test for our country and I'm not afraid of any fallout. I would just hope that the GOP would have the good sense to run a quality, highly-electable candidate against her. Of course, if she loses her 2006 reelection, this issue becomes moot. Although, I guarantee you that if she senses that she has a strong chance of losing in 2006 (possibly to Rudy), she will announce that she will not seek reelection, thus keeping her '08 presidential hopes alive.

I'm not worried about Hitlery.

She will be DESTROYED. Not by the media, but by us.

She will run, and will face something she hasn't faced before...DEFEAT. She goes down. Stuck on 225 electoral votes.

I'm from flyover country. In my area, most of us are blue collar union common folk. While unfortunatly many of us our dems, we kicked another high brow snooty dem to the curb back in 1988. His name was Dukakis.

Hillary=Dukakis all over again. The swing areas of Macomb, Monroe, yoopers, Calhoun, Kalamazoo, Lenawaee, St Clair, Eaton, Shiawasse, and Northern Lower will kick her to the curb. The dem area of South Wayne I don't think goes for her either. That's Dingell land.

The epidimy of elitism is Hitlery. We don't like elitists out here. I won't go as far to say that she'll get beat like Geoff Fieger did here, but she won't sell here. This is Lansing Michigan too, not exactly a bastion of the GOP. I think she sells in Ann Arbor, SE Oakland County, Detroit, Flint, and East Lansing.

If she can't win Michigan, she's not going to win the presidency, since she can write off Ohio and Missouri. Wisconsin is moving slightly rightward, and I don't think she'll sell there either. Iowa? Forget it. Minnesota is going to even be a fight for her, but I think she wins there.

The entire South and border states outside of DC and Maryland will tell her to go pound sand.

Same with the mtn West.

She will win Kalifornia and probably Oregon and WAshington St, but it will be for naught, when the returns from Florida, Missouri, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, come in.

If we work hard and personally get involved, we win. The only way she wins, is if we become COMPLACENT.
