Coooooooool.
Black is a great guy. I am a big fan of Mugger too. I get the NY Press. I will have to figure out how to subscribe to the Sun from the Left Coast.

It's interesting that the NY Post wasn't even mentioned here. I read that the editors of the Post have been trying to tone down its conservative side.
I find the Post less interesting lately and skip it most days. I would look forward to the Sun.

This is wonderful news!

Black also started (and recently sold) the National Post up here in Canada. This is great news for conservatives.

Lipsky and Stoll doing a neocon daily would vastly improve the newspaper situation in this town. Though neoconservatism ain't really my thing, that's the only kind that'll sell here. This is GREAT!!!! Shoot, I'd intern for them for free, and I wasn't even willing to do that in college.
On the other hand, we were already reading Lipsky and Stoll's stuff, it's just going to be at a different location. So it's just taking on the NYT I'm happ about.

My prediction about Conrads next business is about to come true. Can you imagine Mark Steyn read by new yorkers? This will eventually be a national news paper with Libertarians and Conservatives that will change the Liberal hegemony.
To: vrwc54
I concur with your comments regarding the NY Post. I find them following too much along the lines of the Daily Snooze..so much so to the point that they share the same exact headlines on any given day..
I have also found their columnists to be leaning more towards the liberal side. It will be refreshing to have a more solid conservative read.

Conrad Black is about to change the face of the American media. He is about to prove that he is on par with the best in the world. He will employ mostly Libertarian and Conservatives and the token Liberal.

I want a job.
Every city in America that has been reduced to a single liberal rag to read every day needs an effort such as this...
It's time for conservatives to get off their rear ends, open their wallets, and launch a new era in the news biz.
We have the talent...in fact, there are hundreds of qualified researchers, editors, editorialists and writers right here at FR.
All that is needed is the vision, the resources, and the will.

Perhaps a post of interest to you and other Canadian parties.

Conrad Black is about to launch a newspaper like in the early part of this century. All his competition will under estimate him and will blow the Liberal bias away.
To: Nitro
This is very important and will improve the quality of newspapers in general. He will employ good Conservatives and Libertarian editors and writers.

I wish somebody would take on our ultra left liberal San Diego Union Tribune here in San Diego.
The San Diego Daily Transcript does a better job of balancing the news, but they are miniscule in size compared to San Diego Union Tribune.

How he attracts advertisers is key, and what niche will he serve? the WSJ base, or the NYT base? The Post, up here, has slimmed down considerably since CanWest bought it, and they can't comptete against the Globe and Mail, so Black will have to take on the Daily News full bore. And be prepared for a hard fight.
To: habs4ever
I agree advertising is the key but he must know something about the potential. The Globe was a long established paper and very complacent. He did shake up the business and did prove that a conservative audience does exist in Canada.I have not given up on the Post yet even with new owners. Mr Black has considerable funds for this venture and may have a plan for this to be national not just New York.
