Chicago Schools Create Prayer Room for Muslims

Chicago's notoriously wretched but money-squandering government schools have set aside a prayer room to accommodate Muslims.

Though the issue has created a big stink in New York City, Chicago Muslims hailed the decision.

"My religion is a really big part of my life, and it's really good I can practice it, even at school,'' 14-year-old freshman Saba Quadri says in today's Sun-Times.

Kareem Irfan, chairman of Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago, said: "I know some Christian families would prefer their children to take some time out and do Bible study during lunch time. Some Hindu groups have groups that study religion or read prayers. This accommodation will make it easier for students to turn to their own forms of prayer without affecting their fellow students.''

The school system caters to Muslims in other ways. Because Muslim women are not allowed to bare their arms to men, schools separate the sexes for physical education freshman year so female Muslim students can swim.

I agree. We are incapable of critical evaluation of foreign cultures, but constantly attacking all things western, with the attacks overwhelmingly from those that would not be tolerated or permitted to even live by the foreign cultures. we are afraid to critique honestly lest we offend. Under fear of repression and punishment by our own government

Why aren't there lawsuits being filed right and left by Christian parents for discrimination? Sorry, but this is too easy. IMO, Christians have been beaten down and have given up the fight for what is right. Other than FReeRepublic, there is a void of conservative activists, and it will be our destruction. Very sad...

Bible study???? This guy must be new here or he'd know the politically correct would never allow that.

I'd be suing to have a chapel created at their school so they could do the same.

Then they'd come out and tell you we need separation of Church and State. No Christian chapels allowed.

Where's the ACLU? Why aren't they suing the crap out of the school system for this government mandated religous indoctrination? Where's the separation of church and state?

Christians are not allowed to even bow their heads in silent prayer over their lunches without fear of expulsion, but EVERY other religion is not only allowed to practice on school grounds, but is (at taxpayer expense) provided special places on school grounds to do so.

Public schools in my area prohibit any mention of CHRISTMAS, as it is considered derogatory and intolerant towards "other" religions. Instead, they celebrate Kwanza and the "holidays"...

You have eyes and ears look and listen. See and hear what is happening in your own country. The article prompting my comments illustrates my very point. The Christian religion is virtually forbidden in the public schools yet this third world garbage cult is coddled. A healthy people would react quite differently, indeed they would not even have the problem, as the third worlders would not even try.

Time for Christian/Jewish students and their families in Chi-Town to start complaining to their community leaders-in a big way.

NO . . . no complaining in a big way !!!

It's gotta be in a GIGANTIC way !!!

Your post is offensive, ignorant, and hateful. It is not the Christians of this nation with nothing left inside, it is the typical american, blown about by the winds of fashion, that has rejected Christianity, probably because it demands too much of its practicioners. It is the secular humanists (including many CINOs or Christian In Name Only) that have gotten us into this mess and are ignorant enough to actually believe that mohammedanism is equally valid from a theological standpoint as Christianity.

Christianity and Judaism are religions of love. Mohammedanism is a false religion, filled with hatred, opression and murder.

Christian Love is often mistaken for "being nice" which really has very little to do with it.

Forgive me please, for my hyperbole... Thanks
