Yes, of course it is holy to the Arab Christians, but unfortunately they have and are being forced out of the region by those who follow Islam.

And by the Jews as well. But still the original Christian inhabitants are there. BTW, interestingly genetic data show that Palestinians and Jews are the same people - research on Jews and Palestinians

In 1948 and 1967 the Jordanian Legion used heavy artillery in Jerusalem. When the Israeli paratroopers wrested Jerusalem from the Jordanians in 1967 they avoided using heavy arms for fear of damaging the City. Consequently dozens of Israelis died because of this respect for their heritage.

Arabs bombing Jerusalem is nothing new as it's only holy to them when someone else has got it. They allowed the Dome of the Rock to fall into utter disrepair over the centuries and it was only cleaned up when the Jordanians controlled it after 1948 and turned it into a tourist feature.

I think he's referring to Arabs doing the bombing. Read the last line.

Reminds me of a discussion I saw on C-span. It was after a Republican convention, the topic was immigration and English as the official language of the US. One of the participant related an encounter with a demonstrator for English who was heard saying that "if English was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for the United States".

So instead of "Jeruslem Post" you went to Aztlan the so called "a totally independent news service" to look for the truth!!!

This "truthfull" website claims that "Israeli attempted terrorist attack on the Mexican Congress" and to prove it they enclose a realaudio clip of an interview Hector Carreon (Publisher of La Voz de Aztlan) gave to Jeff Rense (for people who don't know, he's one of those UFO NUTS www.rense.com. Now how is that for proof). DOH

The OT is just the history of the Israelites, written by them, for them about their relationship with God.

According to YOU. Some say Jesus never even lived you know. And what is the NT? Revisionist history perhaps. All points of view can be debated.

The Arabs don't have temples, that's a Jew thing.

Don't tell the Mormons that. It would be such a disappointment to them.

For the next 500 years there were a number of churches built over the ruins the last being the Byzantine Church of Saint Mary of Justinian in turn destroyed by the Mohamaddens who built the structures known as the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aksa Mosque.

Here is a link to an Israeli website that talks about something called the Madaba Map. This is a map set in tile depicting Jersalem and the Land of Israel during the reign of the Byzantine Emperors. The site provides a more detailed schematic, here which clearly shows the Temple Mount described as abandoned and the location of the Nea (New) Church of Saint Mary at the southern end of the Cardo Maximus south and east of the Temple Mount. Your claim that there was a Byzantine Church of any type prior to the building of the Dome of the Rock is false.

All nations re-write their history by portraying themselves under a better light...Glorifying their people is an important process in creating the historical narrative of each nation. That's why it is always important to be skeptical of this narrative when it is written by the people themselves.

Actually, evidence to the contrary is one reason the Bible is so believable to me. Sure, the scriptures say that the Jews are God's chosen people, that He picked them out of any group on the planet to further His purpose on earth, but they royally screwed it up time and time again. What fictional work about an actual people would be written by them depicting themselves as so often rebellious and foolish as do the books of the Tanakh? At times, they turn from God, drift back into idolatry and disobedience, complain frequently, lack faith even after they've seen its fruits in operation, imprison His prophets, reject His message, blame Him for all their problems, and forget about Him after repenting and being saved again. Real glowing history they've created for themselves. :)

Actually, while the Christian faith holds the Old Testament as an important part of our religion, the most important book is the New Testament. We should not forget that the Scriptures were written in a period over 1,000 years, with an average time of 50 years after the facts written about occured. To the contrary, the New Testament was written in a very short time span, closer to the events.

First of all, as I said in a post to someone else, the fact that Jesus quoted OT scripture extensively, applying it to every situtation, and the fact that His early followers saw so much prophecy fulfilled by His coming should indicate to us how important the books of the OT are. In fact, we as Christians should be able to validate our faith by using scripture from the OT alone. The gospel was in there long before the NT was written; in fact, just about everything in the new is found in the old.

The accuracy of the OT is not reflected by the time span over which it was written, but rather it is that very huge expanse of time which makes its accuracy so remarkable. A little study on the practices of Jewish scribes should indicate how particular they were and how seriously they took their responsibilities. The result is that the message is intact, the history credible (based on archeology, contemporary works etc) and wholly reconcilable with the NT.

You wanted pictures - I (as a gentleman) sent you some

You must have yourself confused with someone else, Anthony. And you are much too random to be a gentleman.

Where did you think you find pics that expose this facade

Actually, for pics that expose facades I'd go to some architectural site. Perhaps you were thinking of something else. Hard to know, as your thinking seems to lead to the oddest little nooks and crannies.

I am not your Demon the Skunkworks.

I don't think anyone has called you a demon, Anthony. Seriously disturbed, true, but not possessed I hope. If you were a demon, you would not be so blessedly, almost supernaturally dim.

The Jews occupied/governed Israel, the kingdom of David 1006 to 972 BC, 33 years. His son Solomon, with his 1000 wifes, governed from 972 to 932, fourty years. That is a total of 73 years! The Latin Kingdom governed Israel for 88 years. The German Empror Frederick II, and the Christian ruled Israel for 400 years, until the Moslems took over. The Arab governed Palestine/Israel for 900 years!

This is just a little background. I don't realy care who was where when! That can get the whole world into trouble! The indians can kick us all out of the US, if that is the case; The Christians can kick all the Moslems out the mid-east since they were there first. The Italians would want to bomb Israel to capture the Holyland and restablish the Latin Kingdom..... Stop the insanity please!!

Our government and most western nations do not base their actions on religous basis anymore. We progressed enough to know that faith is a p[ersonal thing, and people should coexist regardless of their faith. That is the reason we don't see Christian, and Jews and budists, and Moslems killing each others in the USA. So why are these highly educated American people on the right wing, are all obssessed with the Israel/the bible/the promised land/the holy-moley land. Guys give it a rest!

It was my understanding that Muslims used to pray in the direction of Jerusalem, way long before they changed to pray in the direction of Mecca.

Right?

Are you saying that there is no proof that Jews occupied Jerusalem prior to the Arabs?

Honest to goodness, there are Arabs propagandists out there, many of them promoted by the official media of various Arab countries, pretending that, prior to Victorian times or thereabouts, there was no Jewish presence in the Holy Land. That the cities now identified as Jerusalem, etc., are Not the locations described in the Bible, and that the events in the Bible happened "somewhere else" (they don't say where, but presumably it's not someplace that would be given over to Jews). This is their excuse for ethnic cleansing of Jews from every inch of Israel.

Maybe some of you wouldn't mind seeing the Jews driven out and replaced by Moslems throughout the Holy Land, but think about this: If there weren't Jews there in Biblical times, then the New Testament events didn't happen there either; Jesus didn't visit the Temple in the city we call Jerusalem, etc - that would also have had to happen "somewhere else". So after the Moslems drive out all the Jews and destroy all their shrines, they'll use the same argument to drive out the Christians.

Have you ever heard the expression, FIRST THE SATURDAY PEOPLE, THEN THE SUNDAY PEOPLE.
