For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows
I took the blows -
And did it my way!
One toast to Mr. Sinatra, and one toast to you, for putting this great tribute together! Cheers, B.
To the Chairman of the Board
Happy 86th!
My favorite song would have to be 'Luck Be a Lady'.
Happy birthday Frank.
Favorite song: "One for My Baby"
It's quarter to three
There's no one in the place
Except you and me
So set 'em up, Joe
I got a little story you oughta know
We're drinkin' my friend to the end, of a brief episode
Make it one for my baby, and one more for the road
I got the routine
Put another nickel in the machine
Feelin' so bad, can't you make the music, easy and sad
I could tell you a lot, but you gotta be true to your code
Make it one for my baby, and one more for the road
You'd never know it, but buddy I'm a kind of poet
And I got a lot of things I'd like to say
And when I'm gloomy, won't you listen to me, till it's talked away
Well, that's how it goes
And Joe and I know you're gettin' anxious to close
But this torch that I've found, it's gotta be drowned
Or it soon might explode
So make it one for my baby, and one more for the road...
Cheers...
And now, the end is here
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and ev'ry highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way
Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course, each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way
I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way,
"Oh, no, oh, no, not me, I did it my way"
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels

Yes, it was my way
I've been a Sinatra fan since the early 60's, back when my folks used to play his records. I finally saw him in concert in 1993, at a state fair near Seattle. It was a gasser, baby!
Hard to pick just one favorite song, but I suppose it would have to be The Way You Look Tonight.
I've been a Frank fan since '94 or so, when I was in high school, I just liked his music. It wasn't until another four years had passed (and a scant three months before he passed away) that I finally UNDERSTOOD it. I never met him, or saw him in concert, but it would have been the thrill of a lifetime.
