Not known yet. The briefer stated that there's a KC-10 (a DC-10 transformed into an air refueler) in orbit around the crash location and that there's a destroyer heading to the area.

B1 bombers - I didn't that they were being used in this theater. Was this bomber on the way to drop a "special package" or was it on the way back????

All our publically known stratigic bombers are being used in Afganistan (the B-1, B-2, and B-52). The briefer stated that the B-1 was flying toward Diego Garcia. It's possible that the B-1 just took off and was turning around as a result of an emergency, or it was returning from a mission.

Afghanistan is the perfect theater for operations of the B-1, very rocky, hilly, and mountainous. The B-1's original design was for just this type of enviroment (i.e. Dropping nukes on communist eastern european countries).
God be with them.
