British soldier dies after being shot in Kosovo
A British soldier with the international peacekeeping force in Kosovo, KFOR, died after being shot in the Yugoslav province's main city of Pristina, a KFOR spokesman said.
The spokesman, Captain Ollie Major, said: "A British soldier was injured as a result of a gunshot wound. The soldier later died."
Major said the soldier had been on duty in front of a partially built Christian Orthodox church when he was shot.
He did not give further details and did not name the soldier.
Unrest between Kosovo's ethnic Albanian majority, most of whom are Muslim, and its Serbian minority, mostly Orthodox, has dogged the UN mission there since it took over the administration in mid-1999.
Serbian forces had been forced out of Kosovo after 11 weeks of NATO airstrikes launched to protect the oppressed ethnic Albanians.
It is one of the most surreal yet symbolic scenes of the post-war Balkans. Every night a faint glow can be seen through the windows of the great, unfinished Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in the centre of Pristina, the capital of Kosovo.But the gentle light comes not from candles, ghosts or angels. A fourth will be outside keeping guard, making sure the church is not razed by Kosovo's Albanians who see it as a symbol of a past and a people they hate.
Three weeks after Slobodan Milosevic fell from power, and a week before Kosovo's Albanians cast their votes in their first internationally supervised free election, everything and nothing has changed here. While there is little doubt British troops will be watching EastEnders and protecting Kosovo's Serbian churches and churchgoers for years to come, it is also clear the events in Belgrade have altered the political landscape…
The Serbs are the closest thing to normal, decent people in the region; Albanian Kosovars are the kind of people who give white trash a bad name. I can understand why Klinton liked them since they generally behave like an archetypal democrat voting block but I'm damned if I can think of any reason for anybody else to like them.
They have such clever ways of saying thank you to their NATO allies for 77 days of bombing CHRISTIANS.
If they're the closest to being "normal" and "decent," then you've just proved my point--the stuff they complain about now, THEY did when they were winning. "Wipe them out. ALL of them."
Great memory you have. It very well could be. I doubt too many new churches would have been under construction, seeing as how Serbs were being driven out of Kosovo.
So basically you are saying that you are so against (alleged) ethnic cleansing you feel we should ethnically cleanse all of them. Is that about it?
Especially on this. I completely detest all of the various groups in the Balkans, because they have this habit of whining about Action A when it's taken against them and then turning right around and doing the same thing to the other guy whenever they can.

The FBI went there and investigated for over a year and never found the tens of thousands of mass graves that your buddy Clinton, Albright and the other Clinton administration scum lied and said existed.
Most of the bodies found were people and policemen who the KLA had murdered or members of the KLA who were killed while attacking people or in shoot-outs with the police and Army.
And your sick animal communist Albanian KLA terrorist friends and Clinton destroyed 100's of the oldest Christian churches in the world! Many were 800 to 1000 years old! You should be ashamed to be taking the side of these murdering monsters!
