I think Arafat's trying to save his own BUTTooti from his own people. The Palestinians have come to think he's a moderate mainly because of the peace talks he engaged in during the 'Toon administration, plus the moderate language he uses when talking with the West.
I don't think Sharon will ever order Arafat killed. He doesn't want to incite that kind of war on purpose. Arafat will probably be killed by the Hamas or other Palestinian terrorist group. Maybe they'll try to blame the Israelis for it, maybe they won't even bother.

He's making "fiery" speeches again? Does the 70 include himself? That chickensh*t? Of course not!
Terrorists are bad enough. Those who send their children to do their fighting for them are beneath contempt.

Finally Arafat shows his true colors to the world.
To: unix
I'm wondering how Old Yasser would feel if his child was one of the 70. Arafat is nothing but a rabble-rousing terrorist himself. This article proves it. He can't control those groups--Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Fatah, Palestinian Authority--so he incites them instead. Real logical!!!!!!
To: beowolf
Good one. Except it's my theory that Arafat's replacement will be even worse. At least Arafat feigned diplomacy occasionaly.
To: NewYorker
Am I the only one who thinks this story doesn't make sense? Arafat couldn't have publicly said that.

and what of those who urge them on (and probably send them money) - so many here at FR...You must mean those Mohammedanites who keep getting banned and manage to return under new "nics" along with their sympathizers, some of whom are long-term FReepers!

In a reply yesterday BenF and others made comments which I refuted. That reply seems to have vanished.
1. The settlements are in territory taken in 1967.
2. They are illegal.
3. Jerusalem must be shared.
4. The PLA must insist that the Arab League recognize Israel by doing so themselves in word and in deed.
5. There are as few moderates in the PLA as there are in the Likud. Israel has Peres and the PLA has Hanna.
That was not the exact response but it touches the major points. If the Admin Moderator has a problem with this one then there needs to be an explanation.
To: harrowup
1. The settlements are in territory taken in 1967.Date doesn't matter. Possesion is 90% of the law.
They are illegal.
He who has the gold (or in this case, land) makes the laws.
Jerusalem must be shared.
Says who? I'm sorry but that is a Jewish city. And even when Barak tried to give up half of it, Arafat declined. So TOO BAD. The Palestines want nothing less than ALL Jerusalem.
The PLA must insist that the Arab League recognize Israel by doing so themselves in word and in deed.
Now you are just asking for miracles.
To: Texaggie79
If you actually want peace in the Middle East then you are going to have to accept the
fact that the Palestinians have a right to exist and have a state for that purpose, just as Israel was formed after WWII. The English considered Begin and his group terrorists then as well...theft is not an option.
1. Clear the Settlements
2. Share Jerusalem
3. 1 & 2 are not options; they are a package.
To: harrowup
To: harrowup
That package along with A LOT MORE were turned down by the Palestinians.
And what is wrong with them "existing" somewhere in the massive amounts of Arabic land? Why the hell must they have THAT particular piece of land? I'll tell you why, because that means that Israel is smaller. And smaller means closer to extinction.
To: Texaggie79
It is not Israel's to settle.
To: harrowup
Let me restate: POSSESSION is 90% of the law!
