Among the many unforgettable first impressions was the realization that we could once again celebrate Christmas without fear of consequences.

A wonder everyone cannot see what Balint Vazsonyi sees so clearly. Or maybe they do.

Seeing is easy. Doing is something completely different. For us, these little incremental oppressive changes seem not to be worth fighting over. Mr. Vazsonyi has experienced life in a totalitarian state and has a very good idea what he is about to lose (or has lost). In this case, the ability to publicly celebrate Christmas.

They do, but fear saying so, lest they be called a "hater."

At the Santa Monica Third Street Promenade, there are TWO HUGE menorahs. Nothing even remotely resembling Christianity. Just a lot of vaguely holiday white lights, stars and such.

Same thing here in Palm Beach County. Mall near me has blue and white Star of David wreaths. I thought it neat at first that another faith was joining in the celebration until I looked around and discovered there were no decorations which would indicate the Christian nature of Christmas.

Balint bump. I got the opportunity to briefly speak with Balint on The BQ View with Blanquita Cullum on Friday. Balint Vazsonyi should be required reading for every American.
