AIDS Activist Undergoes Liver Transplant Surgery
Houston Chronicle ^ | December 24, 2001

PITTSBURGH -- AIDS activist, author and playwright Larry Kramer underwent liver transplant surgery and was listed in serious condition Monday.

Kramer's doctors said his condition was improving and was about where it should be after the 12-hour surgery Friday.

Kramer, 66, spent seven months on the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's waiting list. He moved to Pittsburgh in early November to wait for an organ to become available. While many transplant centers oppose the surgery for HIV-positive patients, UPMC's Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute has performed 10 liver transplants on HIV-positive patients since 1997. Eight of the patients have survived. Kramer's HIV has been relatively well controlled, but he suffered from end-stage liver failure caused by hepatitis B.

In short, Peep has been making a monkey of himself here, and I've gotten a chuckle out of it.

Very true. This thread has been fun for me also.

(I'm also a little more careful when walking at night since I'm now aware that liver trolls do exist.)

I'll be darned if a liberal gets my liver or anything else of mine for that matter. They simply don't deserve it.

"...(I'm also a little more careful when walking at night since I'm now aware that liver trolls do exist.)..."

One of the weird threads that runs through my life is that most of the time for the last 35 years or so, whatever else I was driving at the time, I've also had an old Jeep.

They're great fun to drive on a warm summer night except on those occasions when you've allowed yourself to get a little spooked by something. When that happens an extended drive down a dark country road can give you a bad case of the willies in the Willys.

I remember going to see 'It's Alive' at a drive-in one night. I was nursing a six pack (or two) of beer through the show and found myself getting a little goofy.

To make a long story short, I got spooked on the trip home and bailed from the still moving Jeep at the end of the driveway, hit the ground running and practically tore the back door down getting into the house.

The rosebush at the end of the driveway stopped the Jeep nicely, and I felt really foolish that next morning, with its bright sun and singing birds, but IF anything had been after me, I'd have had a decent chance of out-running it.

So… If you're walking down a dark street, and those hairs pop up, run like Hell no matter HOW stupid it looks.

The liver you save may be your own...

Oh Peep...

I thought we'd had a breakthrough.

You know Peep, 'De-nial' isn't just a river in Egypt...

With apologies to the IMDb...

Tagline: Imagine your life hangs by a thread. Imagine your body hangs by a wire. Imagine you're not imagining.

Plot Summary: A young woman doctor discovers something sinister going on in her hospital.

Or on her favorite conservative news forum, perhaps?

(Theramon music: Wuu... wuuuuu... wu...)

Yeah, I remember 'Coma'. That movie came along at a really blah time in my life. The movable feast-cum-party that was the 60's had spilled over into the 70's, but the pace just couldn't be maintained. People were dropping out, crashing and burning, getting divorced, etc...

I slumped into a sort of 'walking coma' in '77 and didn't wake up until the mid 80's, LOL!

I apologized for my initial comments...

Sure you did, after you were spanked all over this board. Another quick scan of your posts shows some OTHER names you were tossing around that you DIDN'T apologize for:

"FOOLISH", "STUPID", "IDIOT" and "GROW UP"

These were also names you were calling and yet now you wish to play the victim here? It is evident that your sole intention was to pick a fight and more evident that you bit off more than you could chew. As I said before, since childish fighting is obviously all you wish to do, you need to go back to a liberal chat area.

Sorry BP but from my read of the thread you started with the attacks and DWSUWF (What does that stand for by the way?) merely toyed with you after that.

Your posts also implied the support of forced organ donation as D stated his aversion to donating HIS organs to liberals and you went all weird on him for it. If you don't support forced organ donation you would have just let it go.

I have points to respond to from an earlier post of yours so I'll do them here too

From #197
All I am arguing is that political ideology should not be a factor when deciding who receives an organ donation

Why not? In all the time you were screaming about having a sensible conversation you never provided reasoning behind this statement of yours.

(D->)3) his own god complex evinced by the desire to save the immoral, and (at least)

(BP->)Even the most immoral of individuals can see the Light and change his or her ways.

This is a true statement, but sometimes God is forced to use severe circumstances in our lives to get us to repent. Why should I, as a Christian, enable someone to continue living a sinful life by interfering with God's plan for them? If they've been brought to this point then they must not have listened to anything else God has been trying to tell them. After they show sincere repentence they will have plenty of time to recieve help, or to go home if that's God's will.

(D->)4) his inability to cogitate any strong and definitive differences in the morality of a political conservative and political liberal.

(BP-)I know several immoral conservatives and a couple of moral liberals. No one is perfect.

Here is where your cognitive dissonance is shown. There are NO moral liberals as liberalism is immoral. (briefly, liberals say that every woman should have the right to kill her children. Bible says no. Liberals say that money should be taken by force from those who work to provide for those who wont. Bible says no. Liberals say that the practice of homosexual acts is an acceptable lifestyle. Bible says no. Liberals say that any sexual relation (whether married to each other or not) is good. Bible says no. No matter how you slice it liberalism is immoral). As a Christian you should accept the bible as the standard of morality. (if you don't I'd reccommend sincerely re-examining your relationship with Jesus).

From 311
However, I was reacting to a statement by DWSUWF that I found completely immoral (liberals do not deserve to live)

Seeing that liberalism is hazardous to those who believe it as well as to those around them, liberalism can be considered a crime against God and man. The bible gives the rulers of the land the power to dispense justice against evildoers. Liberals are evildoers. They do not deserve to live. Of course in Christian charity I will not call for hunting them down (although it would be good sport) because they may still see the light. I do not however support anything that will prolong their ability to damage my country or the people around them.

Likewise you ranted about D trying to split the country into two separate states. It's too late for that. The liberals have already done so. Haven't you seen the map?

Almsot forgot. Thank you all for a wonderfully funny thread.

And just to stay on topic, the homosexual in the article who received the liver, as well as the doctors who did the transplant, the administrator who approved it and the insurance personnel who payed for it should all be shot for denying that liver to someone who really needs it.

I have in my hand, right now, a letter from my employer's Executive Vice President about the United Way. I quote: "... 86 cents of each dollar contributed goes directly to United Way Charities...". Hmmm... but if I send a cheque directly to my preferred charities, they get 100 cents of each dollar donated. I don't do United Way. Ever.

In an ideal world they would be, but I'd settle for jail time for all but the homosexual.

He should be required return the ill-gotten liver.

Your post 312 was an even-handed treatment. Peep will argue your conclusions, no doubt, but he'll be hard pressed to say that they are not 'substantive'. (possibly his favorite word)

Last, but not least, the acronym DWSUWF stands for:

Divided We Stand United We Fall

A brief explanation of this reversal of Mr. Franklin's famous cautionary slogan is available on my FreeRepublic homepage.

I agree with the concept of DWSUWF but would propose instead splitting along the lines formed by the red/blue map of the 2000 election. Let the east coast and west coast be split off to exist as they see fit (if they choose to be one country or two is no concern of mine).

Let the real America remain in one contiguos piece. There is too much good farm land between the east coast and the Miss river to give to the leftists. They'd just ruin it anyway. The liberals in the 'surrounded' citys would just have to deal with us running our government the way it is supposed to be run. if they don't like it they can move to the coasts.

Of course this whole thing can be fixed by requiring positive photo ID at each polling place and requiring each voter to re-register in person for each election. (keeps the rolls clean and the democrat fraud eliminate)

Good points.

I believe that it would be important to keep a liberal nation downwind of us... Keep them honest regarding any 'first use' fantasies that they might entertain.

And an essential element of my plan, not included for more public consumption on the homepage, is the eventual re-unification of the states.

Liberalism isn't viable. It will die. I just want it to do that dying on the other side of a razor-wire fence.

After that degenerated gene pool is spent, we simply march in, annexing the People's Republic (along with any territories it has earlier itself annexed), execute it's leaders and indefinitely detain the few remaining 'citizens' not yet consumed by one form or another of corruption.

(I believe that not knowing this happy ending preyed some on Peep's mind...)

Please show a single piece of evidence that I am a liberal.

-Liberals crave attention and thus don't know when to shut up even when they've made fools of themselves.

-Liberals always take a position contrary to common sense (and thus popular belief) in order to draw desperately desired attention to themselves.

-Liberals attack then plead "victim" when the resulting counterattack is intellectually overwhelming and they are once again shown to be foolish.

-Liberals will change hats during an argument (bad guy to victim to Christian to whatever) once they realize their current position is a losing one. Since ALL liberal positions are losers - they change hats often.

-Liberals seem to have no ability to discern when they ARE making a$$e$ of themselves and thus won't shut up. That goes back to some desperate need for attention that overrides what probably is a decent I.Q. in many cases.

-Liberals have a unique ability to piss off most people around them but they never seem to see it even when it's painfully obvious and others are embarassed FOR them.

-With a liberal, it's ALWAYS about "ME" - it doesn't matter if they've hurt people with their insane ideas and policies (like giving a LIVER to an AIDS patient while an otherwise healthy person who deserved it more dies) - as long as the liberal "FEELS GOOD" about themselves - they simply don't care about the outcome.

-Whining is a talent Liberals have down to a science.
