Bin Laden: Attack on US to Stop Support for Israel
Reuters ^

Posted on 12/26/2001 12:38:08 PM PST by madrussian

LONDON (Reuters) - Osama bin Laden (news - web sites), the world's most wanted man, said on a video broadcast by al-Jazeera satellite television on Wednesday that the September 11 suicide attacks were intended to stop U.S. support for Israel.

``Our terrorism against the United States is worthy of praise to deter the oppressor so that America stop its support for Israel, which is killing our children,'' the bearded, Saudi-born fugitive said.

He added that the tape was being issued to mark about three months since the attacks on New York and Washington and two months after the United States began its bombing of Afghan targets.

The remarks indicated the tape was recorded in early to mid December.

Looking tired but calm, bin Laden was dressed in a clean, camouflage-patterned combat jacket. He sat against a cloth or canvas screen, his Russian-designed submachinegun propped beside him. There was no indication where he was when he recorded the video.

"I did not 'support' the military junta in Argentina, who were certainly no friends of the Jews, but I did not want the British to win."

A case of schadenfreund?

Not so hard to understand in the context of the smug English, who have made screwing up, demanding rescue, and then spitting at their helpers into an art form. A prime example is their plea for American civilians to send their personal firearms to England for the "home defense". When the war ended, did they return the firearms to the Americans who so selflessly sacrificed for the English? Nope. Did they even let their civilians retain the "gifted" weapons? Nope. The English government confiscated them, end of story.

This is not a blanket condemnation of the English. There are no shortage of decent British Subjects, and I've known personally known plenty of them. Unfortunately, their "title" is largely descriptive of the problem -- they're "subjects" of "the crown". The English "aristocracy" is top heavy with effete bluebloods who are accustomed to having their clymers bussed by any and all "inferior" peoples, which can basically be defined as "the rest of the world".

So no, a little schadenfreund over the "stiff upper lip" crowd getting a bit of a comeuppance is completely understandable. (I'm speaking in terms of general principle, obviously, and not in any way suggesting it would have been appropriate for anyone to cheer when that exocet sank their ship, taking many innocent lives, and so forth. Hmm, that was a French weapon, wasn't it? Now what was someone saying about the French a bit earlier? Hmm... :))

Post 168: "The only thing I find interesting in the whole affair was the way the script unfolded so seamlessly. Not even one or two hours after the attack the major networks have prime footage of Palestinians celebrating in the streets. Then the editors move so efficiently fading out pictures of the planes hitting the towers and fading in to the Palestinians dancing.

Seriously, I don't think Richard Attenborough himself could have directed it any better."

There was a German Spiegel article that discussed this footage:

If you look at the "Celebrations in East Jerusalem" pictures in Lent's post 121 "megadump", in the second one that famous older woman is being offered some cake. (I never saw the video actually but most stills I'd seen did not include the cake.) Spiegel's report claims she was just jubilant about the cake and in fact abhorred the attacks in the U.S. In the first picture Spiegel also points out that most adults in the background could care less, it's just the kids in front that are excited. (They want candy?)

Here's the Spiegel story Die Macht der TV-Bilder: Was ist die Wahrheit? and a really bad Google translation The Power of the TV Pictures: What is the Truth?

"Spiegel's report claims she was just jubilant about the cake"

Yes, Arab women have long been known to break into choruses of ululating ecstasy when offered a piece of cake, especially when it's offered in celebration of... oops, there we go again.

BTW, I thought it was a taco chip. Don't they have taco chips in Germany? Do German women break into spontaneous fits of orgasmic delight at the mere sight of a taco chip?

she was just jubilant about the cake

To judge from the size of her, you may not be totally wrong.

It looks like she should lay off those sweets:

(Oh wait, wasn't it a taco chip?)

The Google translation is really hilarious, but I think it gets it right 'cake' for 'kuchen'. If you go to the Spiegel article and actually read it you can view a larger version of the image.

Here's a clue: taco chips don't stand up on one corner.

Let's make fun of everything!

The Google translation comes up with:

"The panorama talking document urine Annette Krueger Spitta regarded the entire volumes of the two agencies more exactly. 'that is finally explosive material'. It determined discrepancies."

I have a 12 year old charmer who looks just like that. I hope that's not him when my back is turned.

You truly didn't mess with Tina, and you really didn't want to get between Tina and her food--or even what she perceived to be her food. She was once accidently shut in the refrigerator (I think she hopped in when I was putting away Thanksgiving leftovers) & when we found her an hour or two later, she was contently eating her way through the turkey carcass. She bit me when I tried to drag her out. She was still gripping the turkey carcass & tried to drag it away to her lair. It took us an hour to clean up the mess.

You needed falconry gloves to handle her when the vet prescribed meds for her in her declining years--and she could spot a disguised pill a mile off.

What a cat...

And of course you'd be able to back up your accusation by counting how many articles I cut and pasted on this thread. What is it, two?

But you never shared with us your favorite Sam Francis articles.

BTW, you're not pretty when you whine.

That was back in the summer when two freepers tried to convince me that saying anything positive about Poles and Slavs was equal to anti-Semitism. After 3 or 4 days, they figured out that I wasn't buying their brand of BS so they stopped and never bothered with me again.

A typical mindset.

Godless anti-Christian origin of Communism is definitely highlighted.

The notion of a Jew being anti-Zionist is absurd to me.

Your belief would give a big laugh to the Jewish woman I lived with for ten years.

My medication pertains to congestive heart failure and blood pressure, and heavy duty painkillers for a wrecked spine.

What, begging for sympathy?

Now tell me about yours.

Thanks for asking. I am healthy and don't need any.

(Perhaps that's the problem in and of itself? You seem to be the only one who can't make hide nor hair of what I say.)

Oh I can make you alright, right from the painkillers clouding your brain, to the whiny non-sensical drivel that you post.
