Hit hard by a slumping economy that has lowered donations and increased demand for services, the United Way in Chicago on Friday eliminated 28 positions, or 20 percent of its workforce, a move the agency's leader said could soon be repeated in United Ways across the country.
With roughly a month left in its annual campaign, the Chicago agency projects it will miss its $95 million goal, a number that had been scaled back twice after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The cuts will save an estimated $2 million by July 1, when the United Way distributes its funds.

Good Riddance to "United Way" and their arm-twisting tactics of getting corporations to extort money from their employees for them.
May "United Way's" entire board of directors rot in hell.
Yeah, falling donations have NOTHING to do with their support of Planned Fetuscide and their dropping of the BSA. Nope. Not at all.
