Perhaps they're getting rid of a higher paid teacher? Also, another instance of out-of-control children. Maybe Tennessee needs to do something about disciplining some of the students.

He should have chosen words more complex in nature so neither the moron kid or the moron parent would have figured it out.

Another example of a generation so far removed from the PC "no no's" of today's public education. It's rather sad to be leaving those good ol' days behind.

I had to do the old nose-to-the-board thing in first grade, and it didn't hurt me. Before the public school bashers like southern rock jump in, I maintain that the abandonment of old-style discipline and widespread fear of lawsuits are largely responsible for public schools being the hell-holes they are today.
To: MeneMeneTekelUpharsin
This is nothing compared to what I witnessed during 12 years of having nuns for teachers.

What was the reason to place nose in corners?Perhaps they agreed that nuking a power-plant was glorious!?
BS, one-sided story...

This guy Van Ulzen failed to understand that his job in the government school children warehouse was primarily to babysit. He apparently thought he was supposed to keep a disciplined classroom and
teach, lol!
On the other hand, Van Ulzen is 60 years old and probably never had all the "diversity", "multicultural", and "self esteem" training that today's government schools require.

I would wait for more details.
What may be acceptable in high school is not going to fly in elementary school. It does not say what grievous wrong the kids did, nor does it mention the grade.
My child is 7 and looks 11 or 12.She definately does not have the same comprehensive skills and I would want her treated as a 7 yr old. Could it be this guy forgot that kids are not miniature adults?Just because someone is a teacher doesnt mean they are a good one. For all the anti-public education jibes I see on this forum, it seems a little weird to see a thread that will take the teachers side just because it involves dicipline, whether appropriate or not. More facts please.

"A Rutherford County teacher who called his students a 'bunch of fools'"Sometimes, the truth hurts.
I would love to see this thing brought to trial: "All right, counsellor, prove to me that they're NOT a bunch of fools."

I want you to know that teachers do more than just babysit. They have important work to do. They collect the lunch money, count it twice and fill out the lunch report. No teacher wants to mess up the lunch report. It will ruin their whole day. And that's just the beginning of all the important work they do. A few even find a minute or two of free time to say hello to the students assigned to their care.

They collect the lunch money, count it twice and fill out the lunch report.LOL, maybe out in the "rich" suburbs they collect lunch money, but in the parasite centers (cities) most of the kids get their lunches paid for courtesy of the money confiscated by the stinking government from regular working folks. Heaven forfend the parents who reside in the parasite centers should pack lunches the way my wife and I pack three lunches every night.

When I saw the headline I thought they had busted him for carrying a Bible into class or perhaps praying in view of students.

He should have chosen words more complex in nature so neither the moron kid or the moron parent would have figured it out. You mean words like "niggardly"? They get you coming and going, those buffoon goverment union types.
It is a shame to see every negative reinforcement tactic at a teacher's disposal snatched away one by one. Anyone who's ever slapped a rat into a Skinner box knows a steady diet of positive reinforcement won't get you all the way there.... (aren't any of these fools parents?)

Except how to spell Franciscan. They should have beat your hands more when you were bad. Just kidding. I am only good at finding the typos of other people.
