Dear FRiends,
I must sign off of FR for good.
This is not one of those "I don't agree with..." or "I don't like the way FR is going" threads. Or even one of those show me some attention threads.
I have been spending too much time on FR. FR is good and has a great deal of good people on board. I had been a lurker since mid '99 but alas I must say good bye. But I have not been a large contributor to new sources and the like. Someone always has that covered. I have enjoyed the lively discussions and great information. The FR brain trust (political, religious, technical, etc.) is enormous and the fiery ZEAL is encouraging. I have seen FR change since 99 and I believe in the right direction.
There are responsibilities that I have, goals I want to achieve, and things I want to do. I have to cut out some things, some are good like FR so that I might be able to obtain the best for me and my family. I guess this is about priorities. I believe the top three priorities should be (1) Personal relationship with God Almighty, (2)family, and (3) others.
So alas and Farewell.
Freeper at heart and in actions.

May the light of our free republic continue to shine and may God save our Republic from the unrighteous.

That's a classy and gracious farewell. Best of luck in whatever you undertake.

How about...Til we meet again.

My guess is that you will be back. Like you say--- it is a matter of priorities When you have a chance you will return. There is to much good here in the way of ideas and thought for you to keep away

I think the best way to no longer be able to sign on to FR, and to break the addiction, is just start positing pro-nazi stuff, insulting JR, and, all in the same post, trash talking GW. For good measure, throw in a pet conspiracy theory, and you'll not be able to do anything with the temptation to lurk at FR.

Friend, you'll still need to keep up with events and the objective analysis that's critical to understanding the short and long-term implications of said events. FR is by far the best vehicle to do so, I'm thankful every day for it's existence. Don't go far, we all need to hang together or "hang separately".
To: Delta-Boudreaux
Funny, I've never considered Free Republic (or any website for that matter) an either/or proposition.

"Hello? I must be going I cannot stay
I came to say
I must be going
--but my friend, you must stay!
--if you should go away?
--you'd spoil this party that I'm throwing!
I'll stay a week or two
I'll stay the summer through
But I am telling you...
I must be going!"
...good luck & come back asap; time, family & friends permitting.

You're addicted. Unless you join a FR support group and go through the 12 step plan, you'll be back.
To: Delta-Boudreaux
Good for you.
Glad I know I can quit anytime too.

I give him 12 hours.

LOL!

This is the most ridiculous and egotistical post I have ever seen on FR ... "opus"? ... you "must go"? ... friend, you need the advice of a wise person ... to my understanding, a true Christian would never announce himself in such a grandiose way ... and grandiosity is usually related to a sense of inferiority ... this is the most ungracious and unclassy farewell FR has published, because it is so self-inflated

...just dump a cup of java into the computer & be done with it; for good.

I've done the same thing. Ten minutes of Dan Rather or the local newspaper and you'll be aching for an intelligent presentation of the news.

Good luck! DB
I know exactly how you feel. I've been considering pulling the plug on my kid's TV viewing. I realized my FR addiction is just as bad!

Just this morning I made up my mind to spend less time on the Internet. Well....that lasted 3 hours and I was already going through withdrawal pains. LOL! Boy howdy I won't be doing that again. 8-)
