TV talk show host says he has cancer

GARDEN GROVE - Longtime ultraconservative talk show host Wally George said he has a cancerous tumor in his colon.

George, 70, whose three children include actress Rebecca De Mornay, said Friday that doctors will know more about his prognosis after he undergoes surgery Feb. 1 at USC Norris Cancer Center and Hospital in Los Angeles.

For the last 20 years, George has argued with liberal guests over hot-button topics such as abortion and gay rights on the show ``Hot Seat,'' which appears six days a week on KDOC-TV of Anaheim.

He still does that show?! I left Cal in '88 and it had been on a while back then. I used to work a couple of blocks from the studio and got tickets once. Entertaining, sort of. The audience appeared to be mostly teens and college students from Newport Beach. What a circus.

I can see you've seen the show. What a hoot.

George was quite the conservative. He was also quite the showman. Nearly all, if not all of his liberal guests would be thrown off the show at the end of George setting them straight. And if they didn't watch their Ps and Qs, he dump em early.

It was rather hokey, but George's values were in the right place. I used to enjoy tuning in once in a while before conservative talk shows blossomed in the late eighties and early nineties.

As you mentioned, he had college students to fill he audience, and at time when the guests would start to dump on Wally, Wally, Wally...

I wish the guy well. That swirl that passes for his hair needs a home for a while longer.

Used to watch Wally back in college on the local Orange County UHF station KCAL, channel 52(I think).

Sort of like Rush - on crack! LOL :)

Loved the infamous restaurant in Fullerton that he always plugged, but I can't remember the name of it? The one with the waitresses dressed in sexy cowgirl outfits.
