Bingo! You nailed it.

It used to be that we had a common enemy: Der Schlickmeister and his pals. But, they are off the radar screen for now, and it's hard to take Daschle seriously, wiht his "stop the tax cuts" strategy months before an election.

So, we just beat up on each other.

Heck, I consider myself a social conservative AND a libertarian, so there.

Ok your long post above is the model for how to not aruge logically. I'd have to get my Logic and Argumentation and Debate book out to remember all the fallacies you used.

I agree with some of you points and vehemently disagree with others,,,but the argument you make is ridden with illogic and fallacy.

No, the Netherlands is libertarian country on social issues. Libertarian/liberal is the same thing when is comes to drug legalization, the legalization of prostitution, abortion and assisted suicide.

Also, LBJ had a hand in that, as well.

I apologise, I am unfamiliar with the word. I jumped to an erroneous conclusion and stepped on it.

I noticed many ignored this post from JimRob. It's a security blanket of sorts for them to keep thinking he agrees with EVERYTHING they say. Oh well....some of the happiest people I have met are the most delusional.

Scientists are manipulating science to push an agenda, that includes global warming and evolution. Evolution is an absurd idea that has it's roots in left-wing ideology and influenced Hitler, Stalin and Marx. What place does that topic even have at conservative web site? It's got nothing to do with conservatism whatsoever.

Conservatism is not about stuffing your pocket with more money.

Well, then, what good is it?

I've pointed out that opposing the excesses of the drug war is completely a different topic than promoting the legalization of drugs. And, yes, more than a few of those here promoting the legalization of drugs have admitted to being marijuana users.

In regard to the legalization of drugs, this web site has become an embarrassment and threat to conservativism. Both Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity have gone after libertarians in the last month. I have no doubt both see what's going on and are trying to fight this stupidity.

"One reason is because there is an endless parade of liberals on FR who pretend to be libertarians."

Amen.

Your constant linking of liberal and libertarian is either laziness or ignorance. Either way it is intellectual bankrupt.

If I believe the government should not outlaw something, like adultry, but I do not engage in it myself. Am I liberal or libertarian or both? Why not outlaw adultry, taking false gods, and coveting my neighbor;s wife. Aren't these harmful to society?

How do you reconcile the limited role of government the libertarians espouse from the socialist programs of the liberals. In short, how do you justify the link in the first place. Or are you just a disruptor?

I accept your apology.

Remember the big controversy in DC over the use of the perfectly legitimate word: "niggardly"?

I think your absolutely correct on global warning. But many churches find belief in God and the scientific facts of evolution compatible.

That's right Nixon opposed drugs, primarily because the left-wingers that opposed him were the leaders of the hippie drug culture of the 1960s and 1970s.

This may shock you: Maybe JimRob is not as bothered as you by posts on evolution, or ending the drug war. If he was, would those threads be here? If you don't like it, why don't find a forum more to your liking?

>>>In the past few months I have noticed that the posters on Free Republic have become more and more hostile towards social conservatism. . . . . I wonder if this is becoming only a haven for hedonists and libertarians, and if so, perhaps it would be better for social conservatives to find their own site.

You need to take yourself a little less seriously if you want to ever reach anyone on an internet discussion forum.

Social conservatism will always have its fans and opponents, nothing happening now is special, here or otherwise. Some people will always be hostile to you on an internet forum, if you want to post here or really, anywhere, get used to it.
