Just a question- how does "I think those shows are destructive to the moral fiber of communities, so I am going to organize a protest and see if I can pressure Fox to change" fit into your good social conservatism/bad social conservatism spectrum?

In particular, notice the responses to the thread concerning the recent request by social conservative groups to the FCC to reign in Fox's racey primetime programs.

Since when do "social conservatives" get to define what is "racey" and what isn't?...

Social conservative?...Or social Nazi?

Actually, the social conservatives are too busy beating each other up on the religion threads. Just try posting something favorable about a charismatic and watch 'em come out. Or, on the other end of the spectrum, something about the Pope.

Oh, and what is the "social conservative" position on immigration? That seems to bring out all the flamers.

Anyone that thinks opposing the legalization of drugs makes one a "fundie" is an utter moron. No, those promoting the legalization of drugs sound like the left-wing hippie losers of the 1960s and 1970s and Joycelyn Elders. One would have to a hard-core left-wing web site to see such stupidity matched.

The homosexual agenda is the number one assault on freedom in this nation, from free speech to freedom of association to forcing their agenda on school kids. The liberaltarians are no where to be found in standing up to the homosexual agenda, however.

We have those that are pushing left-wing pseudo science in thread after thread about evolution. What that has to do with conservatism is anyone's guess. It has a lot to do with left-wing philosophy as Hitler, Stalin and Marx were all influenced by Darwin. And left-wing universities and professors consistently are hawking the theory with the same blindness they hawk global warming.

It's time Jim Robinson cleaned up this mess. It's embarrassing for conservative web site to filled with idiots wanting to legalize drugs. That will destroy the conservative movement.

Two things which seem to stoke the anger of most posters here; social conservatism and any criticism at all of St. GW Bush, blessed be his name.

Nothing has changed. Social Conservatives do not like it when their views are questioned and debated that has always been the case. What makes you think that its only social conservatives who question G.W. Bush? If your too insecure with your own moral views then maybe your the one with the problem not free republic. What fun is it to talk to a mirror anyway?

It is apparent to me that you are recalcitrant.

Start a Buckley thread, maybe you can learn something from others.

We've got freedom of assembly....

I'd like to pressure Fox to show more bagpiping competions--I'll get my piping friends together and protest.

I just can't whine to the government it Fox tells us to 'stuff it'.

I've been on this board since 98 and it seems pretty much the same to me. Libertarians like to flame us Christian\Religious Right people, thats just the way it is. Why leave? Why not stay and fight for your point of view? How will you have any impact in this world if you withdraw from the fray and hide?

I don't consider myself to be a Christian/Religious Right person, so we may not have much in common in that aspect. But I can say that, if you are, you're better off letting him go - acting like a prissy little schoolgirl in this fashion does not reflect credibly on his positions. You're definitely right - stand up and sound off like you've got a pair, rather than whining about how you're being overrun by those degenerates, and how you're about to take your ball and go home.

I don't think any one faction is getting more targeted. What I'm seeing is a general rise in hostility towards *everybody* -- in my opinion, because the liberals are getting to be a less and less significant immediate danger, so we're dividing up and attacking each other instead.

He also ignores the fact that the evidence shows the Dutch have much less of a drug problem that we do. Lower percentage of users of both "hard" and "soft" drugs with an increase of the average age of the user.

Buckley is the only conservative out of that bunch. Shultz never was. And Freidman is libertarian.

Further, this issue has become such an embarrassment that Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity have taken it on in the last month. Rush had a monologue going after libertarians. Hannity went out of his way to debate libertarians on drug use and Harry Browne on the war in Afghanistan.

And, let's not forget the leading conservative figure of the 20th centurr, Ronald Reagan started the War on Drugs and his wife started the Just Say No campaign.

Hey Ol' Sparky do you also believe that the earth is the center of the universe? Are the scientists at NASA and around the world trying to brainwash children into believing left wing junk science?

He did post something. Right HERE

And taken from it:

And Libertarians are not druggies. Libertarians call for an end to the drug war. There is understandable logic behind this. There is nothing in the U.S. Constitution that authorizes the federal government to wage war against the citizens of the United States, no matter how well-meaning the intent. The Bill of Rights means just as much today, as it did on the day it was written. And its protections are just as valid and just as important to freedom today, as they were to our Founders two hundred years ago. The danger of the drug war is that it erodes away those rights. Once the fourth amendment is meaningless, it's just that much easier to erode away the first and then the second, etc. Soon we'll have no rights at all.
