Do you, like me, find it peculiar that the parents would carefully lock the garage door from the inside, thereby protecting themselves from interruption--yet unconcerned about the safety of the sleeping children? They knew doors to the alarm had been tripped, yet did nothing.

My guess is that the alarm was generally tripped and not connected to an outside security service. The swingers that we knew had people coming and going through their back door at all hours. Several couples in their neighborhood were participating and they just walked in and went to bed whenever the mood would strike them. I know because this couple were entertaining people from the office when a neighbor woman came to the back door and the host disappeared. These people have no morals and the poor little girl was at risk all the time.
