CNN announced Olympic officials have granted the Russians an investigation into the 5.6 mark that was given by an Italian judge during the Ladies Skating Program.
They are concerned that skater Irina Slutskaya was not graded properly on required elements that are available on videotape.

Oh, $#!+!!

They should just give all of the Olympic athletes gold medals. It isn't fair that some who aren't as good should be made to feel bad by people who perform too well. It might turn some of them into bullies, and that would be bad.

ANYONE with eyes saw that Sarah Hughes DESERVED that Gold medal. This olympian sized whining has got to stop.
PS they can have the gold medal just as soon as they return the one for the 72 Basketball....

Holy moly. How about an investigation into how Irina received all those 5.9 technical marks for her final program? She sure didn't deserve those.

No she didn't. I did not particularly like her program either. Gee, I guess the fix wasn't in.

Here are some comments from Slutskaya. And her presentation has improved, but IMHO, the 5.6 mark was closer to her artistry last night than the 5.7 and 5.8s.
Then came Slutskaya, the last skater of the evening. Only she could stand in the way of Hughes winning gold - and at that point, only she could boost Hughes to the top of the podium.
She did the latter.
Slutskaya had an awkward forward landing on her triple flip in a program that seemed lackluster and tentative. Judges zinged her, giving Hughes the gold by a 5-4 split.
"Sarah skating great today," Slutskaya said. "Yeah, I'm good skater, and I skate good today. But judges take the choice, and that's it."
"Oh well, I work so hard this year for my second mark," she said. "Get mostly 5.7, 5.8. Here, I see 5.6, and I have shock."
But Slutskaya stopped short of the kind of outright criticisms Russian Olympic officials had made earlier when they threatened to pull all of their remaining athletes from competition because of what they said was systematic undermarking and unfair judging during these Olympics.

NO, she most certainly didn't deserve them. I think Sarah is clearly the gold medalist and the next three are about too close to call. All good. I would have order them: Sarah Hughes, Michele Kwan, Sasha Cohen and the Russian (sorry, don't remember her name).

Yes, the Russians are demanding an investigation into why the Italian judge didn't proceed with the "fix" as planned. Perhaps the Russians will allege fraud, as the Italian promised them a win no matter what, yet failed to deliver.
To: codebreaker
While we're at it, lets look into how the Russian judge managed to rank Sarah Hughes' 4th after her brilliant long program...

They should just give all of the Olympic athletes gold medals. Absolutely. Let's turn them into Participation Ribbons.
In fact, we shouldn't even score these events. Let's make it like those kids soccer leagues where they don't keep score, because we don't want any of the kids to think they're losers.
It's inevitable.

This was probably as deal for the Russians showing up and not flying home.
The good part is we all get to say 'Slutskaya' a lot..
To: Utah Girl
The Americans, on behalf of Michelle Kwan perhaps, should immediately request an investigation why the Russian Girl got such high marks for her technical performance. A She got al lot of equal and even better marks than Sarah Hughes!

The Russian skater was not judged fairly......she received HIGHER marks than she deserved.
To: Kozak
Yeah. I guess the real question is, why did any judge give SLUTskya anything better than a 5.6?
But, then, the Russians are only now realizing what we've all known for years: Olympics figureskating is corrupt.
