So they aren't going to do it? Well, of course not. If they let them do that, then what excuse could they use?

Ok, now I am thoroughly confused, I mean gee, didn't he move to France (or wherever) like he promised if / WHEN Gore lost the Election??

Or should I assume we can honor his word about as well as the X-Prez? I can't believe there are enough people around to keep this jackass fired up as if he had some amazing support! But then again there is a sucker born every minute they say. I guess Rosie couldn't make it that day either ....AWWWWWW :(

I have noticed something interesting. Republicans speak on any issue through mainly elected individuals. Rats speak on issues mainly through unelected hacks such as Baldwin/Asner/Carville/Rosie etc... Why? Election reform should require the people we elected into office to be the ones to publicly comment on issues before our representatives. Nobody voted for Alec Baldwin's opinion.

"It's like a hurricane, starting like a tropical storm and going to Category 1, Category 2," Meek said. "That's what I feel is coming in November. In this upcoming election, for the first time in state history, we're going to make sure everyone's vote is counted."

Translation: The RATS will attempt to perpetrate the most massive election fraud in American history this Fall.

I sincerely hope that we will not sit by and allow it to happen.

I don't think algore is capable of even dialing 911 on his own. I know his boss didn't know how to use the phone in the Oval Office.

I swear to god its true.

And I'll back you up that its true. I was commenting just the other day on a thread that the result of the ACLU's complaint is a mystery to me. I have never heard a follow-up story. The State suposedly had 90 days to "further explain these measures". And I could of sworn that the signs were appealed to the Federal Civil rights commission, but they have no enforcement power. I still can not remember which governing body has a say-so on this(and since Florida was a "jim crow" state, some body does).

It wouldn't be a total stretch to compare Baldwin himself with 9/11, IMO.

He and his ilk will end up being responsible for more deaths than those which occurred as a result of the terrorist acts comitted on that date......

Alec is out of work and has too much time on his hands.
His career is over, he is a fat stupid slob and the soapbox is the only place he can get some face time.
Let this idiot keep making a jerk out of himself.

So, Alec Baldwin, an actor--a profession whereby he spends his life in front of cameras pretending to be other people--is an expert on political philosophy.

The audacity of these Hollywood twits never ceases to amaze me. I guess when you live in your godless, gilded, Hollywood lifestyle, you can afford to be detached from reality and spout off about absolutely nothing.

Whatever Alec, stick to acting.

Yeah, I thought that Baldwin promised to leave the country if Bush won. So he can't tell the truth about anything!!

Maybe we could take up a collection for a 1-way ticket.

"I know that's a harsh thing to say, perhaps, but I believe that what happened in 2000 did as much damage to the pillars of democracy as terrorists did to the pillars of commerce in New York City,"

This cries out for your talents. Perhaps a picture of baldwin superimposed on a picture of a body being removed from Ground Zero.

Then we post it outside every voting booth in America. Perhaps you'll even be able to update it with the inevitable picture of baldwin with the RAT candidate.

>Rats speak on issues mainly through unelected hacks such as Baldwin/Asner/Carville/Rosie etc... Why?

I'd say because, unlike on the Right, on the Left, there actual IS a vast, left-wing conspiracy...

And the fact that democrats KEEP ON linking the 911 attacks to the election is interesting. On Seinfeld, when George kept mentioning Marisa Tomei, he had a hidden agenda.

Hillary gets money from terrorist groups. Hillary gets elected to NY. Terrorists attack NY. Democrats CONTINUE to say Bush was never elected president. Democrats compare the election to the 911 attacks.

I'm a paranoid, tin-foil type to begin with. But I wish these events didn't make the pattern that they do.

What's funny is that their "protests" and "sit-ins" changed nothing that Jeb signed and passed. There were not 12,000 "protesters" the first time, either, and I think they got a turnout of maybe a thousand or so this year. They can't cope with their irrelevance.

Also, back in May 2000, a few short weeks after that 12,000 person protest of out-of-towners, FL voters gave Gov. Bush the highest job approval rating yet in his term, according to a Mason-Dixon poll discussed in detail in the NYT. Apparently, FL voters -- who know that there are over 150 minority groups in this state -- think that it is very fair to require the same standards for everyone. In short, the "One FL" protest did not strike a chord with FL voters. Instead, voters gave Jeb a bigger round of applause.

I noticed that too and thought the same thing. I normally don't watch the show, but I had no control over the remote b/c it was Thursday night and my wife gets to watch her shows (I usually jump on the pc and log-on to FR for the evening).

BTW -- re: the "sit-in," mentioned in above article. Here's a STATEMENT OF GOV. JEB BUSH:

IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Justin Sayfie

Wednesday, January 19, 2000
(850) 488-5394

STATEMENT OF GOVERNOR BUSH REGARDING AGREEMENT WITH SENATOR MEEK AND REPRESENTATIVE HILL

TALLAHASSEE - For the past 24 hours, Senator Kendrick Meek and Representative Anthony Hill occupied the personal office of Lt. Governor Frank Brogan, to demand that Governor Bush rescind his Executive Order implementing the One Florida Initiative. After many hours of intense discussions, Senator Meek and Representative Hill have agreed to withdraw their demand and have voluntarily removed themselves from Lt. Governor Brogan's office.

While I am disappointed that Senator Meek and Representative Hill chose to raise their concerns with the One Florida Initiative in this manner, I am pleased that we have been able to reach an agreement ending their "sit-in" in a peaceful and dignified way. Under the agreement, Chancellor Adam Herbert and the Board of Regents have agreed to postpone consideration of One Florida's Equity in Education Plan until February 17, 2000, in order to allow for further public discussion about its likely effect on minority student enrollment in Florida's colleges and universities.

The agreement also calls for a series of three legislative hearings, in Tallahassee, Tampa and Miami, to discuss fully aspects of the One Florida Initiative that may require legislative action. These hearings are in addition to those held in December, at which members of my staff and the Lieutenant Governor testified. I have also met again with members of the Black Caucus and other interested legislators to continue the statewide dialogue about steps we can take to preserve and increase diversity in state hiring and contracting, and in our higher education system.

Senator Meek and Representative Hill have promised to provide me with their written comments and recommendations about the One Florida Initiative by January 28th. I look forward to receiving their comments and recommendations, and those of other citizens with an interest in this issue. I will also continue reaching out to Floridians from all walks of life to listen to their views and to share my vision of diversity and opportunity with fairness.

The Governor's Office belongs to the citizens of Florida. As I stated previously, I will never allow it to be used again as a vehicle for this type of protest, no matter what the cause. I nevertheless accept the public apology issued by Senator Meek and Representative Hill for the inconveniences caused by their actions, and I hope that reasonable people, particularly those who hold the public trust as elected officials, can always seek reasonable forums for public discourse on matters of mutual concern.

Ironically, the sit-in waged by Senator Meek and Representative Hill comes at the same time that we learned the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights has found the One Florida Initiative fully consistent with Florida's historic federal/state civil rights partnership agreement. This welcomed action by the Clinton/Gore administration suggests that the truth about One Florida's positive impact is beginning to shine through. I remain committed to sharing that truth with all Floridians.

I also remain focused on the attainable goal of more minorities in Florida's colleges, more minorities contracting with State government, and more diversity in government and the judiciary.

Nobody voted for Alec Baldwin's opinion.

This whole get-together was supposed to be to protest ONE FLORIDA....a program which everyone seems to like, and one that seems to be working. When you get right down to it...he is protesting the idea that Black people in Florida should have equal rights...that they be treated as any other self reliant human being. His pro-slavery liberalism is uglier than his bloated face.
